Say what youd like about Ford but he does have that political eye for finding the waves to jump in on for maintaining his support .
Obviously anything can happen, but judging were Ford is placing his chips hes betting that Carney is gaining and will have the center rights support for the foreseeable future.
The press conference where he said this was so funny lol. He was so excited to praise Carney. It was kind of wholesome to see a premier praise someone from the other party so much
This reads as an *incredibly Canadian* political experience.
I applaud this sort of congenial interaction between politicians. I wish we could see more of it, to be honest. The world is a better place if we approach each other with kindness and work together to find common ground.
TBH, this is how things actually move forward. People build trust and rapport, then they work together.
We should criticize politicians who yell, fingerpoint, and distract, not the ones that actually sit down and get something done.
It’s never black and white folks. You can dislike Ford’s and even Carney’s policies but at the end of the day, they are only human. You can still hate how he cuts Healthcare and education but respect him for other things.
The best thing for Canada right now is Unity. Not division. I hope this trend continues. It’s never Blue/Red/Orange/Green/etc. We are Canada.
Ford isn’t actually a conservative, he’s a populist. Which has many problems but one benefit is he will mostly do what Ontarians want. He sees Carney is very popular so he’s going to stay well out of the way and give respect where it’s due.
I’m not a fan of Doug Ford, but I can admit that out of all of Canada’s premiers and top politicians, he’d be the most fun at a party.
Honestly, I love this. We need more of this. Ford is really spearheading the “let’s just work together, folks” attitude lately and we need more of this. With Carney, with Chow (at times), the other premiers. If it weren’t for some terrible moves, petty municipal games, and some blatant corruption here and there, he’d be more than alright in my books.
