      Nothing about the proposed cuts screams to me „DOGE style.“ They’re not tepid, but certainly not the barely restrained chaos we saw to the south.

    2. The government doesn’t owe anyone employment and the government certainly isn’t going to solve income inequality through expansion of the public service. The author of this article is completely misconstruing the issues of public service employment and income inequality.

      Carney is right to cut after the expansion in public service under Trudeau. Its either cut now or raise taxes and they aren’t going to meaningfully raise taxes.

      And if you actually look at why income inequality is increasing its pretty much entirely due to asset appreciation (housing, stocks, etc). Ever expanding the public service isn’t going to do anything to address this. Ironically, probably the only thing that would is increased capital gains taxation.
