I think that most important and interesting part was before the „invasion“. Why not to mention it?
> (English and Greek)
Explains why.
Isn’t Turkish one of the official languages? *This* exclusion of anything Turkish was the reason 1974 happened, and the reason Turkey is still on the island.
I wonder, do people really consider themselves entirely different races, or is it just because they followed different religions? If it was really about race, why didn’t this rift exist centuries ago?
Yeter. Enough
Greeks pretend like nothing happend before and forgot about “Enosis”. Green line – the current border- was already drawn 10 years prior.
So, islam doing islamic things?
Although I care deeply for the pain of my fellow Cypriots who now reside in the south, acting like it started with the invasion is just plain insulting to everybody
you bow to power.
you dont bow to what is right.
you may keep bowing to power for twenty thousand more years.
you will still be bowing to power.
I really don’t wanna hear a peep from this fool about occupation while he facilitates Greater Isnotreal

I hate the average internet user
Yes, it didn’t start on July 20th, 1974. Nor did it start 5 days prior with the Greek invasion (Makarios‘ words, not mine). But let’s not act like Turkey HAD TO occupy one third of the island after they already toppled the junta regimes in both Cyprus AND Greece.
And let’s also not act like it was a spur of the moment decision. The TC part of the government never wanted to coexist. Prime minister Küçük wanted Taksim even before the RoC existed. I can’t upload an image right now for some reason, but you can find pictures of his book „A Permanent Solution“ on the internet.
Turkey would have invaded and divided a decade before ’74 if not for Lyndon B. Johnson’s letter to İnönü.
On top of over 150 thousand GCs, the Turkish invasion displaced twice the number of TC than the GCs displaced on Bloody Christmas. On top of ethnic cleansing, Turkey settled the island with mainland Turks, a war crime under Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. *“The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.“.*
Turkey is currently holding TCs hostage. No country recognizes the TRNC passport, there are no direct flights, there is no direct trade and much more. The north is entirely dependant on Turkey.
Furthermore, Turkey did more damage to TC identity with their settlers than the GCs ever did.
It’s not all the fault of evil Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots, neither is it all the fault of evil Greece, Cyprus and the Greek Cypriots. Both sides are at fault for the current situation. Neither side is without sin and we can never have peace if we don’t acknowledge this.
Saying these things doesn’t make me an Enosis supporter, nor does it make me in favor of the extermination of TCs, as some Turks would like to portray me for this comment. It makes me in favor of a free Cyprus, without the Turkish military in the north, and without Akrotiri and Dhekelia. Of a Cyprus with no right of guarantee or intervention for any country. Of a Cyprus ruled by Cypriots, not by Turkey and Greece.
I’m still searching for my Turkish grandfather’s grave, who was killed by Greeks alongside by other Turkish Cypriots in the villages of Muratağan and two other Turkish villages. From what I know, they were all buried in a mass grave, and bulldozed them over, I haven’t been able to visit his grave because it doesn’t exist as an individual grave.
