I honestly think that this administration thinks these folks are just human trash. Pity that.

    2. Pure evil. Read the whole article. It’s absolutely infuriating. We need to stop this now! It’s gone on too long. People are getting kidnapped, disappeared, imprisoned, and displaced (human trafficked).

      >Relatives last saw Luis Leon, who lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on June 20, when he and his wife visited the Philadelphia immigration office to replace his lost green card, The Morning Call first reported.

      >Then, on July 9, Leon’s wife received a call that seemed to confirm the family’s worst fears; the caller claimed the 82-year-old had died.

      >Thankfully, this week, his family members learned that Leon had been moved from a detention facility in Minnesota to Guatemala. He’s now in a hospital in Guatemala City, the outlet reported. The Independent has reached out to ICE for more information.

I don’t get it he just lost the card not his citizenship?! I don’t get this at all! I mean it’s all bad, but he actually paid and went through the process and shit and he just lost the fucking card to represent all that? I just don’t understand…

      From the article:

      >Leon was granted political asylum in 1987 after surviving Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet’s regime, the outlet reported. He has a clean record — and hasn’t even been given so much as a parking ticket, the family claimed.
      >
      >He’s not alone, figures from the data distribution organization Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse show. As of this week, **there are more than 56,800 people in ICE detention; 72 percent of them have no criminal convictions.**

The maga crowd loves this sort of thing. Women, children, the elderly. It doesn’t matter who suffers, they glorify ignorance, greed, and malice. This is like watching gladiators fight, or watching public executions for them. The pain and suffering and humiliation of others is their passion.

Those ICE aholes know full well what they are doing is wrong on every level. Hence the masks. Cowards and thugs

      Sue, Sue, Sue.

While I don’t believe in litigation in general.

In this case. Sue, Sue, Sue.

      Civil Rights Claim.

In any country it would be an outrage and widely in the news. No large media broadcaster will spend more than 15 seconds with this. Immigrants, legal or illegal, are screwed

    9. Is there not a database one could search for green card information and validate that one at least has a card?

Not that ICE/DHS would bother to check said database.

    10. Old folks frequently forget where they keep things. ICE is hurting innocent people to achieve maximum numbers. I don’t know how they live with themselves.

This is what we have become? What happened to prioritizing criminals and drug dealers as promised, trump and homan are pathetic.

    12. It’s so fucking gross that these ICE goons will sacrifice all of their humanity for their sign-on bonus and inflated salaries. Never let these people know peace

These ICE people are modern day Gestapo!

The shame their unlawful actions bring upon this country is just awful!

    14. Why are the most ghoulish disgusting elements of humanity enjoying such a freaky moment of prominence? This has been the most fucked up 6 months and I’m a New Yorker and was here for September 2001 – March 2002.

I knew there were pockets of cruel people and sociopaths etc… but millions of Americans cheering on this bullshit? The scale of the enthusiasm for increasing cruelty has been shocking. I guess that after 10s of millions of people elected a total charlatan who actively has held his base in contempt since Go, nothing about Americans should shock me. But being dumbasses who are unhappy with their lives is one thing, but I’d hoped anything on this level was going to be a bridge way too far.

      Everything is broken.

    15. At midterms we need to be on Democrats to END ice and totally revise the INA.

    16. stickerhighway on

Remember, folks, you can’t call them the Gestapo or Nazis until they’re wearing brown shirts and armbands…

Obviously a notorious M13 gangsta. Hell bent on the destruction of Murica.

      ICE is so evil.

    19. Why didn’t he become a citizen…this seems baffling to me, if he was granted political asylum almost 40 years ago it kinda makes sense you couldn’t keep that asylum claim… why did he still only have a green card.

    20. Confirmed, Stephen Miller trying to compete with Pinochet destroying Chilean lives.

I mean.. what in the world is an 82 year old supposed to do when he gets dropped into a foreign country? Wander the streets? Where does he sleep and how does he eat? The cruelty of this administration is beyond comprehension.

    22. DadophorosBasillea on

I feel so much safer that 82 year old is gone

Not chewing on food in restaurants in a gross old man fashion 🤮

Truly the us has skyrocketed in improvement bra fucking vo

    23. As a former Green Card guy myself for two decades i can’t fathom why someone would stay on permanent resident status for decades and decades.

It took a class 8 fuckup from my country of birth to wake up and realize living in the USA with only a green card is risky. Ńothing to do with ICE CBP etc. I had no problem traveling around the world with an EU passport and green card. But when the EU passport went LOLZ in a business trip i reconsidered my options. Applied a week after returning to the USA and had my citizenship ceremony 2 months later.

    24. Each and every one of the 77,302,580 people that voted for the fascist in 2024 are directly to blame for this.

    25. A green card doesn’t even determine your ability to stay in the US in the same way a passport doesn’t make you a citizen.

They just let you come and go.

      Insane story!

    26. 718Brooklyn on

This shit is actually heartbreaking. Come on fam, we can’t have 82 year olds being disappeared because they left a card at home.

He escaped a brutal regime that the US helped install. The GOP sees that as the crime.
