What now? We keep or head down and find reliable trading partners, it’s the only solution. I don’t think the US will have a sane administration for a while.
The people who have been pining for things to go back to normal will know to pull their heads of the sand and realize we need to redesign our economy. America can no longer be Canadas factory’s. We need to improve Canadian manufacturing and broaden our trade partnerships.
Some industries which rely on the U.S. are going to shrink. Those include things like the Oshawa automotive empire unfortunately. Some empires are going to fall, including some unions. Other things are already rising out of the ashes, however, including the steel industry, natural resources and defence industries.
