They’ve already rescinded Durham County Councils climate emergency pledge that was made in 2019. DCC work since then has saved £13 million Net through efficiencies. They have already stopped one project that would have saved £860 Net thousand over 9 years. One of their councillors has said they do not believe in solar PV because ‘they’ are dimming the sun.
The meeting on the 16th was honestly a shambolic demonstration that these unqualified people are making conspiracy theory decisions that will cost Durham County council and its residents.
What Tice is doing is genuinely insane.
He wants to scrap sources of energy generation after it’s been built?
At a time when we have a shortage?
Anyone who votes for this melon is screwing the country over.
China is installing renewables and upgrading their grid at bewildering pace and scale while compromised zealots like Tice try and keep us in the smog age.

Pretending Tice is capable of rational thought is a waste of time. They can only defeat Reform by being the party of competent governance.
Tice is a key part of why Reform are inevitably doomed in the long run.
There are only a very small number of small state libertarians in Britain. The majority of the reform-favourable vote are from left-behind, working class constituencies in relative decline that want a proper industrial strategy.
Net Zero is the closest they are getting to that. To convince people to go for something else, you would inevitably end up having to spend more money.
Tice had the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of pounds spent on getting him the finest private education at Uppingham School, with all the contacts that brings.
That got him accepted on to a construction course at Salford University.
I suspect he isn’t too bright. He’s 50% ‘Tim Nice-But-Dim’. Posh boy, very stupid.

Farage is not smashing the system. He and his rich friends basically are the system.
Reform wants to take the UK back to the 1950s. Next they will be saying smog is good for us? The only at forward is renewables and be energy independent. Russia invading Ukraine was a wake up call
Why… People that vote for them aren’t voting because they’ve carefully considered their wider plans for the country.
And giving a party of 3 MPs that much attention only solidifies them as credible opposition which is a mistake
What annoys me in all these arguments is how green energy is apparently a scam. China are racing forward with it. To the point they’re now a major export of generators. Their car companies are aiming at Europe as a market, where Tesla has decided to alienate everyone, and where electric models by established companies haven’t yet hit market mass.
China are exporting electric buses (which tbf we also make, but some reason don’t really buy. Ot at least one of the companies here bought a fleet from China anyway). Instead of trying to pioneer all this ourselves, we’ve ceded the ground because of politicians being in the pockets of fossil fuel companies pushing the impression that green energy doesn’t work and we should all just start mining coal again.
There’s an estimated 133 years of coal left on the Earth (current known reserves and consumption). There’s 80m tonnes of easily recoverable coal left, and diminishing amounts of oil reserves left. The reason we’ve not exhausted all that is because we’ve phased out coal as an energy source. All coal power-stations has either closed, or concerted to biomass.
Wind and solar aren’t going away. Solar is more efficient than it was years ago.
This obssession with fossil fuels is burying our heads in the sand and leaving our future generations with a problem we should’ve fixed today.
