We should have zero net immigration until the housing and unemployment crisis is over. The damage from Trudeau’s post-pandemic free-for-all is still being felt.
Where we lack vision is not going after the American scientific sector the educational system and the tech sector lets lure the great minds in the USA to relocate here
Its caused the liberal party ideologically wasnt against the immigration surge under the trudeau era
It just did a u turn on it for political reasons. Even now many say it not feds fault its the provinces ! Or it due to bad actors or they only focus on pr entry to downplay the scale of the numbers.
Goal is likely fix a lot of the excess and increase numbers gradually again to keep status quo happy.
Isn’t a little early to tell? We are at approximately 130 day mark and he has had his hands full just keeping trade going in the right direction. I don’t think we should be too judgmental until he has time to widen out his platform from just dealing with the orange monster to a more general life of Canadians view. Don’t forget he wasn’t even an MP before becoming PM.

Anyone seriously taking advice from the Century Initiative needs to be voted out of office immediately. They pulled an aspirational target of a 100 million population out of thin air and they aren’t serious people.

Climate change. An affordability crisis. A real estate-driven economy with a stubbornly inflated housing market. And a horrendous job market set ablaze by companies who’d rather pay pennies on the dollar for cheap foreign labour instead of hiring Canadian talent.
We have a plummeting TFR, and for the past 10 years, our government’s been scrambling like chickens with their heads cut off trying to correct our productivity shortcomings with cheap labour. No wonder the TFR is plummeting. People need stability–in their jobs, home, living standards, communities.
I’m glad to see professors and economists pointing out this lunacy. As we wait to see what this government’s response will be, I can only hope they don’t listen to the fucking Century Initiative.
