This country is just rubbish we pay so much taxes well at least working and middle class do and we get some of the worst service from our public institutions. I don’t even mind paying taxes but I expect some level of public service

    2. The Leng Review was a bit of theatre to rubber stamp the ‚PAs as Poundland doctors‘ policy for the last and current governments.

Who cares about patients safety when you don’t pay enough to incentivise actual doctors to move there? Better to just let a PA have a go.

The consultants and GPs already in post in these areas will just soak up all the risk and attend the inevitable Coroner’s Inquests until they’re all struck off or burn out.

    3. It’s incredible that two of the suggestions, that PAs should be supervised by a senior doctor and PAs should have a clear uniform/lanyard/badge making it clear they’re not a doctor are things that in theory should already happen. PAs are meant to work under supervision and (like everyone) they’re supposed to give their role when they introduce themselves

You know something isn’t right about the whole situation when the GP surgery are coy about who you see.

Eg you phone up asking for an appointment with a doctor, the receptionist conveniently doesn’t hear the last part, then you get a text confirming an appointment with „<First Name> <Last Name>“ instead of „Dr <First> <Last>“, which many would overlook.

Or the classic switcheroo when on the day suddenly the GP isn’t available and instead of telling you, you just see a PA.

They are just so dishonest about the whole process, treating you like children instead of adults and informing you of their decisions

The physician associate in the case in the article should have been charged with manslaughter

Overall these recommendations are really good. They cover 95% of what the BMA and families have been asking for.

By the family’s own admission, if these recommendations were in place, their daughter would hopefully have still been alive.
