Separatists, both the Western and Quebecois varieties, are such a tiresome lot, with the games they play to even redefine the word „secession“. No province is leaving Canada and it’s time to put this idiotic bugbear down for good and get on with more profitable things, like surviving the reigns of Trump and whatever other monsters succeed him.
This seems to be making a solid case for the Bloc having fallen into the behaviour defined by the [Shirky Principle](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clay_Shirky#Shirky_principle): „*Institutions will try to preserve the problem to which they are the solution.“*
If separation is no long on the table, either by success or by loss of voter interest, then the Bloc loses its raison d’être; and so they have an interest in maintaining the Canadian state as it is, including sufficient ongoing political tension with Quebecois Canadians.
It may be that the Bloc is seeking to shift itself away from separatism entirely, and transitioning into more generalized Francophone representation within Parliament, in which case separation is no longer their raison d’être.
Anyone not working for the good of Canada should not be on a ballot, or paid by Canadian tax payers. That includes Alberta Smith .
Quebecois seperatists want to separate because they never signed the articles of confederation, were violently conquered, speak their own language which has been second-classed and were the targets of countless assimilation campaigns.
Alberta separatists want to separate because they think Liberals are fruity and don’t wanna use busses.
They are not the same.
Well, there is a question of historical heritage there. Should France left Notre Dame burned down and destroyed it? No. Similar here: Quebec history is closely knitted with Christianity, and it left dozen of monument that are symbolic to the province.
