If the government demands our ID at all times, it’s only fair we get to see theirs too.

Even the reddest of red cities and counties require law enforcement to have standardized ID and/or badges. There’s ZERO good reason for opposition to this.

Makes an infinite amount of sense and yet I’m sure the Republicans will block lest we learn who’s wearing the jackboots.

This is completely reasonable common sense so it will never get through the Senate.

If a bill supports the safety, financial security, health benefit, or general betterment of the American public, it will be shut down by the GOP.
In other words, this bill is DOA.

“Well, he was wearing a mask.”

When there’s no accountability, it’s time to face the fact that you’re officially living in a police state. Somebody should do it. Somebody needs to do it. And sooner than later would be great.

Their badge number should be printed across their back like a sports team.

Good. Ask yourself why anyone would possibly be against this…

With MAGA’a push for things like voter ID and more rigorous standards for identifying oneself as a legal resident, it would be blatantly hypocritical of them to push back against basic identification for the members of Trump’s personal army of internment agents.
Whether they’ve been deputized or federalized by Trump to basically invade states without the governor’s consent; whether they are masked crews of ICE recruits throwing dissidents into unmarked vehicles; whether they’re flamboyantly suited up while waiting outside of courtrooms without the proper warrants or aggressively detaining Trump’s political opponents in front of cameras; whether they are posing and posturing to be included in the next release of anti-immigration propaganda; or even whether they are cosplaying as enforcers of Trump’s „mass deportation“ agenda…
Whatever the situation may be, without properly identifying themselves, it doesn’t just pose a risk to public safety, but democracy itself.
And if Republicans have a problem with it, they’re just revealing their hypocrisy. They’re saying loud and clear that identification is only necessary when *they* deem it necessary—and more than that—they are asserting that the constitution only protects *their* rights and freedoms, that the law applies disproportionately to others.

That just means they need to wear a badge, not uncover their faces, which means there is no accountability for who that badge is assigned to.
