Isn’t that pretty much what Lucasfilm did with the sequel trilogy?
It is so crazy that Lucas Film and Disney green lit the project and made a huge press announcement with no script or outline. Makes it so clear why they have so many projects announced but never materialize.

Makes sense. There were so many Star Wars projects in the works with all kinds of different big names attached, but these film makers can’t just sit around waiting for Disney to pull their finger out. They move on to other projects and just let Disney let them know when they’re needed. Then Disney has an existential crisis and scraps the lot.

This all but proves the suits just used „Star Wars“ to make gobs of money just off the name value and nothing more.

I teach young musicians. I love that they have great ideas, but it’s like Kennedy/Disney just goes out there like a child and makes an announcement that they have an idea of something.
Lol hearing Rian Johnson talk about the Star Wars trilogy is weird. He says he hated the prequel trilogy and then he actually gets to direct the sequel trilogy. Literally a Star wars fan’s wet dream. He can shape it however he dreams it and then we get the TLJ. I have no words for what he created. It destroys the OT legacy characters and the direction the plot goes is just bad. The choices made just don’t sit well. I could think of a million ways to have gone with the story. I literally can’t believe TLJ exists as it does.
He’s been lying for years.
I remember him claiming that he would start working on it after the release of „Knives Out“.

There are dudes out there who lost nights of sleep they were so angry thinking about this trilogy, and it never even existed!
