Give it up David. Our prefrontal cortex is big to track large larger social groups and make pointed sticks. We’re still basically ill-tempered chimps with little ability to assess non-proximal risk.
Its human nature , this is what happens when you try to „force“ things on a population.
Sometimes, the most passionate people ultimately get in their own way .
Anyone with sense about the situation knows we’ve lost the opportunity to idealistically avoid climate change.
The best we can do is be radically pragmatic & try to mitigate the worst of the coming danger.

there is money to be made in the short term by accelerating climate change to expose oil fields under all that pesky ice so its been decided thats what we’re doing and there’s nothing you can do to stop it

Suzuki is correct. Focus on mitigating the damage and keeping Canada as pristine as possible. Keep going down the path of sustainable power (e.g. nuclear) that does not damage the economy, environment/wildlife (wind) or is uneconomical (solar) without subsidies. Focus on flood control and forest management. Canada was never going to be able to fight the large countries in any case.
