to be fair, why would he?

it was a comic book movie, he was there for an easy payday, maybe make his grandkids happy

I respect Reeves so much for speaking his mind. I hate it when actors phone it in, even if it was a legend like Marlon Brando. After watching his Super/Man documentary, I respect him so much more. His impact as Superman to a whole generation & activism on spinal cord injury research are unmatched.

He might not have cared. But he was still fantastic in it and a highlight of the Donnar cut.

He read the script from the baby’s belly so yeah he didn’t care and got paid very well.

    5. What’s wild is that even though he was literally reading his lines off of cue cards, and generally being a pain in everyone’s ass, the performance still works. Brando just had that gravitas, and Donner made the most of what he had.

Go on YouTube and look at Cinema Tyler’s videos on the making of Apocalypse Now. ALOT of Brando content.

He’ll always be the true Superman for me. And I was a big fan of Routh and Cavill as well, but Reeve imo is the Man of Steel

That’s on brand for Marlon he was always getting shit faced between sets and stuff.

One of the interviews he even says he just does it for the money and doesn’t care.

He said something along the lines he’s like a dog doing tricks for rewards.

Fun fact, according to IMDB Brando didn’t wanna bother remembering his lines so his lines were written on the baby Superman’s diaper.

He also told Richard Donner to film rehearsals because “you might get something good”, then after the rehearsal Donner would be ready for a real take and Brando would say “nah that first one was fine.”

Brando was a good actor but multiple people say he was a horrible person to be around.

Superman is a stupid, ridiculous children’s story and anyone with half a brain cell could not care about it. Reeve was a terrible actor without a decent performance to his name, a vacuous pretty boy who traded on his looks, cross reference Jared Leto. Brando is over rated, but at least he is an artist.

    12. It’s pretty well known he only did that movie for the paycheck. 🤷🏻‍♀️

A year later he showed up on the set of Apocalypse Now 100lbs overweight and constantly arguing with FFC about his role. Then when you see him in the movie, busting out of his military shirt, no camera angle could make it might. I guess it worked because of the fever-dream nature of the whole movie
