At first, I thought there was a lot of unnecessary exposition, but then I realized, that’s how the characters talk in the comic books, and maybe that was the point; To make the movie seem more like a comic book come to life.

Superman being dark and edgy always just comes off as funny so camp is the way to go.

    3. A superhero who wears red underwear over blue tights is supposed to be corny.

Gunn went out of his way to get away from the gritty heavy, and boring superman storylines weve seen and instead, bring the viewer into the comic book world. I just wish Cavill had an opportunity to portray a joyful hopeful Superman, he was great for the part but the movies didnt do his portrayal justice

    5. I really enjoyed how balanced it felt, how Superman fit into the world with the Justice Gang. It had perfect pacing, and felt like the og saturday morning cartoons.

I went to see this today with a friend, not really expecting much, since I’m not an action movie fan, but I thought it was excellent. Maybe could’ve used a few minutes cut, but I became a Superman fan in those two hours. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult were impressive; first time I’ve seen any of their work.

    7. People that say that have only a small superficial understanding of the character. That’s most likely painted by the 1978 film than the actual comic book character.

Superman is a straight cornball in the comics too lol. People who don’t realize that probably just started liking Superman when Zack Snyder was directing.

      THIS!

Superman has not and will never be the “anti-hero.” And in a cynical world, I get why that is so odd.

But here’s the thing, Superman has always been a reflection of our “potential” better selves. In that context, he’s always been the mirror of our culture.

      Uncomfortable? That’s the point.

Saw it today and enjoyed it. It’s not ashamed to say its a comic book movie, and that’s why I feel I got my money’s worth as far as a summer blockbuster experience goes.

Only thing I found a bit distracting where the quick camera pans that are used over and over again.
