Crombie has to go. She’s a bad idea in general, but if she’d managed to get her seat and increase the party fortunes then she’d have a case to stay on. But she couldn’t even secure her own seat. Clearly the Liberal name means more than she does. Turf her and get somebody else. And yes, NES would be great and a far better direction than Crombie.

This convention should be quite interesting, it’s quite likely that Crombie’s team will do everything in their power to fix the race and bring in as many favourable delegates as possible, but anything can happen. Another element in Crombie’s favour is that while NES will be working against her, the rest of the Federal Liberals are probably quite happy if she stays there and continues to lose, it stops them from having to deal with a by-election and gives a convenient foil.
But obviously any objective analysis would say she has to go. So many elements were in her favour during the election, and the loss of her own riding shows that her only talent in politics was being endorsed by Hazel McCallion.
