That sounds about right, given Carney’s defense and border spending commitments, and his promises regarding the RCMP on the campaign trail. I am a bit surprised to not see the CSIS and CSE on this list; hopefully the spokesman just forgot—or wasn’t asked about—those agencies.

RCMP receives majority of its funding through municipalities. It is never part of general federal government cuts. The fact that the head of the largest government union doesnt know this is surprising.
Example 2024 fed funding for rcmp was 4billion, while Department of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs was 13 billion.

Use it or lose it, in terms of budget, creates bloat and inefficiency. A lot of the public safety sector is probably lacking transparency due to mess as opposed to operational security.
