Hopefully states enact this requirement if the congress fails. We have to do something as the current anonymous law enforcement isn’t OK.
Even if it left Committee, it would die in the House. Even if it passed the House, it would die in the Senate. Even if it passed the Senate, it would die by veto under Trump. Even if it wasn’t vetoed, it wouldn’t be enforced. Even if it was enforced, SCOTUS would rule it unconstitutional. Even if it was ruled constitutional, the agents wouldn’t obey.
This bill is dead all the way from the start to the end.

Obscuring your identity while committing a crime is, in itself, already a crime. Kidnapping, which is what they are doing, is already a crime. We don’t need new laws, we need to enforce the ones that already exist.

A bill that would require law enforcement to identify themselves as such when they’re seizing people off the streets? So the public knows there some kind of due process potentially at work rather than some random abduction by masked vigilantes?
Yeah, sure, I like the idea. Not gonna happen, but it’s up there with Miranda rights as a concept, which in turn is probably slated for phase-out soon.
