The problem they have with Trump sundowning is that they pretty much rely entirely on Trump for policy.

Another day in the TACO trade.
Abrego Garcia has filed a case against the government and the government is going to lose.
Those involved are not going to want to take on personal liability for deliberately flaunting the law. So now it’s a „mistake.“

They originally said it was mistake, two months ago
>The U.S. government accidentally deported a man to El Salvador because of an „administrative error,“ landing him in a notorious megajail and leaving him stuck there in legal limbo, according to legal papers filed Monday[…]
>in court papers filed Monday, the government admitted that „on March 15, although ICE was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia **was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error**.“
Then they cynically argued that it was because he’s a gang member, with tattoos with helpful incriminating photoshop captions.

This man lost over 30 pounds from being starved during his first two weeks in CECOT. He was forced to kneel all night or get hit by guards after falling over from exhaustion, and soiled himself because he could not use the bathroom. He was taunted by guards saying they would send him to the cells with the gang members where he would be “torn apart”. For 3 full months he lived with the belief that he would die in that prison in an unimaginable horrible way, and never see his family again.
His life as he knew it is over. He will never be the same. I think of him and the gay makeup artist from Venezuela who thought he was going to have a chance at asylum, only to get sent to the worst place he could’ve imagined, and I cry. It was never a one-off mistake. There are so many others

He was deported due to his ties with MS13.
But also we can’t prove he has MS13 ties.
But also we don’t want him to have a trial so he can’t prove he isn’t MS13.
But also he was deported by mistake, and can’t be brought back.
But also when he comes back, we will deport him again.
But also he is a criminal gang leader.
But also it was a one-off mistake that we don’t need to look into.

I don’t think they get that throwing someone into a gulag or concentration camp as an „oopsie“ isn’t any better of a defense. It’s like choosing between shoving your hand in a bonfire or into a pool of liquid nitrogen, „how about none of the above.“

How many times will they flip on this. First it was a mistake, then he was an MS-13 drug lord, then it was a mistake again but he still isn’t free. These deportations aren’t legal and when you play with peoples lives like this it has a ripple effect. His family has suffered emotional, financial, social turmoil because the US Govt didn’t respect this man’s rights.
It’s even scarier knowing that the Trump admin now doesn’t even care about your citizenship status. This is racism and fascism at its core

Garcia’s illegal deportation was deliberate so was sending him to a third world country and put in a notorious prison without due process and so were the lies demented Don spewed about him , so were the lies the dictator of El Salvador and he told at their heavily scripted propaganda show for the press in the Oval Office that trump redecorated to look like the Russian bordello where he met Melanoma , it was also deliberate that they continued to lie saying he was ms13 , trafficked immigrants across the country. This was a test to see how much pushback they would get for sending someone to a prison in another country that taxpayers millions paid for. There will be more and have been they worked the details out with their test next there will be American citizens taken away by masked men and disappearing them
