      But they sure have had tunnel vision for eliminating PBS for a long time.

      Guys, right wingers, specifically the heritage foundation project 2025 types, think concepts like “neutral education” are indoctrination against them and their “reason for existence”.

      You got to watch a PragerU or Answers in Genesis video to hear about it though because it goes through a lot of money and sane washing before it gets to the general public.

      It’s sad what America’s politics has been reduced to a situation where a President, his administration, and a larger cross-section of his political party denounce any information they don’t like as being „woke.“ Being „woke“ is essentially being socially conscious and caring about what happens in society and tempering injustice. Trump’s MAGA movement is about embitterment, hostility, and division. The federal government is supposed to promote the general welfare of society, not fan the flames of hate. The sad part is that all these efforts at fanning the flame of hate may be a misdirection to allow Trump to fill his coffers through corruption and kleptocracy.

      Ken Burns, Fred Rodgers, and LeVar Burton have all fought to keep PBS well funded.

      In my books, if you’re on the opposite side of those 3 on this, you’re on the wrong side.

      I don’t want the government funding any broadcasting company. This should become law that prevents this funding and funding to any social media outlet.

      These folks trying to kill PBS are the type of people who wouldn’t understand what Sesame Street is or does, never mind the rest of the excellent programing.

      MAGA seems to favor things like WWE Fantasy Wrestling, Jackass and Duck Dynasty every time.

      Who wants NOVA, Nature or Masterpiece Theater type programing, when you can mindlessly watch quality Fox Entertainment “news” 24/7.

      The felon Presidunce trump is right there with them.

      MAGATS don’t care for PBS because it has programs that uses big words that they don’t understand and they feel like stupid. I guess if the shoe fits???

      Cities will keep supporting PBS. Rural areas, not so much. They’ll have to watch city shows.

      Is anyone else here underwhelmed by Ken Burns‘ upcoming *The American Revolution* after it’s already been done in astounding fashion with A&E’s *The American Revolution* in the ’90s and History’s *The Revolution* in the early-2000s?

      I’ll wait until *Henry David Thoreau* drops in 2026, thanks.

      To add, once-tremendous, since-slipped programs, like *American Experience* and *Secrets of the Dead*, have declined greatly in quality lately. PBS must up its game, but alas.

      Public television deserves funding because it’s non-partisan. The mouth breathers don’t know that because they don’t watch I guess.. On a side note PBS must spend an hour of pre-show fundraising for every hour of Ken Burns documentaries it shows. He’s their bread and butter.

      Just listened to an “On the Media” podcast where Brooke Gladstone makes the same argument in a discussion with the Heritage Foundation author of the Project 2025 chapter about public broadcasting. She makes the same mistake that Ken Burns makes here, which all journalists seem to make – they think MAGA cares about people and the country. MAGA doesn’t care about anything except power. If you see this through that lens defunding NPR and any publicly funded media makes 100% sense. This cements the lock conservative propaganda outlets will have on rural voters. It makes it seem natural that “news” should be partisan and commercial. It emphasizes the point that government won’t help you (see the flooding in Texas, the lack of warnings, and the finger pointing happening in real time.)

      Treating MAGA as “serious” or interested in policy or people plays into their hands. They can and will say anything to get power. Taking them seriously makes them seem serious. Hit back on all the bad they are voting for and all the BS they and Trump spout.

      I love Ken Burns docs. I actually have a DVD copy of his WW2 doc, about two inches to the left of my keyboard as I type. If any of you have never seen any, go and find the National Parks one. It is almost as good as being in the parks. He also did a short doc on the Dust Bowl that is much shorter than his standard productions, but just as engaging. The West is another of my favorites.

      Is this the separate rescission bill that will codify cuts to USAID and other agencies as well, one that can be passed through the Senate needing only 50+ votes?
