A Palestinian woman released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention on Tuesday says she and others faced mistreatment while detained. Still, the Department of Homeland Security dismissed her account as one of many “sob stories.”
“I wouldn’t wish this upon anybody. It was very hard, very traumatizing, and very, very difficult, is what I would say,” Ward Sakeik told CNN’s Danny Freeman on Saturday morning.
Sakeik, 22, a stateless person whose family is from Gaza, was born in Saudi Arabia, a country that does not grant birthright citizenship to children of foreign-born parents, according to The Guardian. She entered the U.S. legally under a tourist visa when she was 8 and was allowed to remain, as long as she regularly checked in with ICE.

She’s also not a Palestinian citizen. She was born in Saudi Arabia to Palestinian parents. Saudi Arabia does not grant birthright citizenship that means she’s stateless. There’s literally no country where she is legally allowed to reside. It’s inhuman to criminalize someone for existing.
But the president who whines and cries about being the most mistreated man in all of human history totally isn’t a genuine sob story. /s

It is. It’s a sob story about how a once great nation has become weak and abusive. It inflicts heartless and unnecessary cruelty on their own species. It’s a sob story about what monsters are capable of. Tell it to your children.
I didn’t hear the DHS say any of it wasn’t true.
If they did the right thing there would be live cameras in ice detention facilities.

A story is what the media reports, not what the media created. A victim told their story and the media reported it. That’s how it works. DHA thinks it’s unpatriotic for the media to tell on them.

Sorry to hear about a person facing these unlawful actions by ICE and their Administration. It is very easy for them to say it’s fake, a lie, and a sob story since there is no transparency or independent oversight on their activities. Perhaps those who enacted these horrific targeted round ups will be judged by an international court and held responsible. Even if you are an employee you should be careful that they will not leave you out to be the fall person. These are crimes of humanity
