Let’s not forget Texas officials overwhelmingly have supported Trump. Blaming Trump seems like an admission of their own guilt.
Vote em out, Texas. They’re literally getting you killed.

Not according to maga, they “know for a fact”…that it was the weather machine and the deep state. Because there’s no way they could possibly be seeing the consequences of their dear leaders piss poor decision making.

Had to explain to a ‘friend’ that nothing about the storm would have changed, but there’s a through line between the DOGE to decreasing prediction capabilities and inadequate warning and late or insufficient response.

Well would you look at that! In the real world actions have actual consequences!

That „may “ is doing a lot of heavy lifting! The weather service had warned of flooding but the information about the intensity and where to expect the flooding was not clear. Also if I read correctly the warning was not pushed to phones only to the tv and who is watching tv at 4-5 AM.

How the fuck didn’t republicans see this coming? The most obvious thing ever that this was going to happen.

Of course DOGE had everything to do with this.

Here’s an article with some actual facts. The conclusion is that the NWS did its job. Weather watches were issued on Thursday afternoon after data was collected by balloon confirming high moisture, low wind speed. It’s the state’s role to publicize and disseminate NWS alerts to impacted areas, which wasn’t done for this Texas storm until it was too late. Unfortunately, weather is now political in certain places. People who live in these places may need to protect themselves by monitoring NWS alerts directly rather than relying on politicians and government agencies to do it for them.

Trump’s policies killed people in Texas, but I’m sure they’ll find a way to blame Biden.

On the bright side, Trump will probably sell you Trump brand weather forecasts soon.

Trump supporters frequently demonstrate they are willing to let children (their own even) suffer and die before they will admit they were wrong or lied to. This is yet another example.

This is a tragedy, and as usual, innocent children pay the price. My heart goes out to their families.
A lot of these comments are heartless and cruel. We need to be figuring out how to communicate the connections between science, government and natural disasters to voters.

If Democrats are too self-righteous to weaponize the Camp Mystic deaths, then they’re complicit in whatever comes next. This obsessive clinging to “dignity” while kids drown is moral vanity. Republicans cut disaster funding, deny climate change, and gut infrastructure—and Dems still won’t name names because they’re scared of seeming impolite. More children will die because they won’t get their hands dirty. Is the moral high horse worth more than human lives?

The entire situation is a result of a governor supporting the Trump agenda instead of standing for the citizens of Texas. All the cuts definitely had an impact and moving forward it may be difficult to get the aid needed to heal.

Blame whoever made cuts to NOAA. Can’t get warnings out fast enough if there isn’t a functioning meteorological bureau.
