I saw a woman online connect the dots. They’re cutting funding for Medicaid,medical research (CDC, NIH ) and rural hospitals but simultaneously adding $25 billion to something called a *rural health transformation program* for “remote monitoring robotics,AI, and other advanced technologies”. How come the Republicans haven’t talked about how this bill would be “helping” rural communities??

Coincidentally, Palantir (the military surveillance company) recently got a $443 million contract with the CDC (the same one they’re cutting by 50%). Meanwhile Neuralink just recently completed one of their first human brain implant trials at the University of Miami. Maybe it’s also just a coincidence that FL governor Ron De Santis just weeks ago vetoed a bill that would allow families to sue drs for medical malpractice if it resulted in death. And maybe it’s just a coincidence that it’s less than 50 miles away from Alligator Alcatraz, where god forbid these vulnerable people become test subjects for these studies

The theory is that you take away access to healthcare and scientific research funding **replace** it with a privatized program that has very little regulation, and use the most vulnerable people as pawns for your own fucked up fascist fantasies

I strongly believe that Wasserman-Schultz was integral to Trump’s first victory and shouldn’t have been excluded when we were probing Russia’s election interference.

The question prompting suspicion: How could the DNC choose Clinton over Sanders when Sanders not only caused an entire generation to become politically active, but also unified the Left and Right over common causes?

I took my relative comfort for granted. I’ve always had food and shelter. Never had much money but I’ve always had something to eat and a place to rest my head. For the first time I’m concerned that I may not be able to afford the basics.

Republicans have been pushing the lie that this bill benefits the American people, but it is a massive redistribution of wealth and provides major funding for National Security and Trump’s immigration agenda.

Let’s take the time to go over Trump’s “big beautiful bill” and why it sucks.

**Tax Cuts**

Central to the bill is trillions of dollars worth of tax cuts. Republicans will permanently extend Trump’s 2017 tax cuts that disproportionately benefited the wealthy and corporations.

To help pay for the loss in revenue, Republicans are repealing clean energy tax credits and climate initiatives passed under Biden, among other things (see below).

The bill issues a permanent exemption level of $15 million for the estate and gift tax, double for married couples; primarily benefitting wealthier individuals.

The tax breaks and increases in standard deductions that *might* provide some benefit to low income, working class Americans and seniors are meager and temporary, while the rate deductions and extensions from the 2017 tax bill, along with the higher exemption figures are more generous and will remain permanent

In other words, the majority of the tax benefits in the bill favor the rich and corporations.

The bill is expected to reduce federal tax revenue by over $4 trillion and it is estimated to add more than $3 trillion to the nation’s debt and $5 trillion to the debt ceiling.

**Corporate „Giveaways**

The bill includes a multitude of tax breaks and incentives for corporations and rich business owners. „Trickle down“ policies that are expected to cost hundreds of billions and require little to no oversight or transparency to make sure that they are, in fact, „trickling down“ to workers and communities.

**Spending Cuts to Healthcare and Food Assistance**

The bill will be shifting the cost of programs like SNAP to the states and imposing work requirements for parents and older Americans seeking food assistance.

The bill requires that the states shoulder a percentage of the cost of benefits; reducing federal spending on these programs.

The bill increases the age for work requirements to 64 and lowers the age a child must be for the parent to receive benefits.

The big beautiful bill includes over $1 trillion in reduced spending for Medicaid, imposes new requirements for healthcare and requires enrollees to verify their eligibility more often. The Bill also includes substantial cuts to subsidies provided by the ACA.

These changes will cause millions of Americans to lose their Medicaid and SNAP coverage; impacting mostly low income Americans, the disabled, seniors and children.

The bill also includes across the board cuts to Medicare Advantage plans, standalone prescription drug plans, and payments to healthcare providers. This could lead to increased premiums and reduced benefits for seniors while limiting their access to care.

There are also cuts to community health programs, caregiver support services, and Meals on Wheels; meaning higher out of pocket costs for medical resources, prescription drugs and technologies.

The bill repeals Biden era price negotiation rules, which could reduce drug availability.

**Cuts to Veterans**

The bill includes layoffs and cuts to the VA and the Toxic Exposure Fund (TEF), which covers healthcare costs for veterans exposed to toxic substances like burn pits.

Issues a ban on abortion services at VA facilities and an end to mandatory vaccinations for staff.

**Cuts to Research**

The bill also includes reductions to NIH funded research, and cuts to grants and training programs. This could halt progress on medical research projects like those focused on Alzheimer’s, cancer and heart disease. These cuts could disrupt developments in scientific research and lead to layoffs and fewer job opportunities in the research field.

The Treatment Equity fund also faces funding reductions; meaning cuts to community-based behavioral health and opioid treatment and prevention programs.

Non-defense discretionary spending caps reduce funding for agencies like NASA and the National Science Foundation, among others.

**Cuts to Planned Parenthood**

Republicans are also eliminating Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood; restricting access to abortion, life saving treatments, cancer screenings, pap smears and birth control for millions of women.

The bill also introduces new taxes and restrictions on non-profits and charities.

**Funding for Mass Deportations and National Security**

The bill will include over $150 billion in funding for deportation and immigration enforcement, like $45 billion for detention centers, an 800 percent increase.

The bill also expands the capacity of detention centers to hold over 100,000 people daily.

Provides $14.4 billion for ICE transportation and removal operations and $10 billion in grants to states that conform to federal immigration enforcement.

It also provides $46.5 billion for Trump’s border wall and for upgrades like new surveillance systems.

$4.1 billion to hire new ICE and border patrol agents, $2 billion for signing and retention bonuses, $2.8 billion for new border technology like AI assisted surveillance, drones, and „smart wall tech.“

The bill also imposes a $1,000 fee on migrants seeking asylum.

Policy changes include streamlined deportation, enhanced expedited removal, increased vetting for asylum seekers, new fees for applications, and taxes on remittances sent overseas by immigrants

The bill also provides an extra $150 billion for the DOD, including at least $25 billion for Trump’s „Golden Dome of America,“ a project expected to cost $500+ billion.

$21 billion will go towards restocking the US weapons arsenal, $34 billion for Naval upgrades, and $5 billion more for border security.

**Changes to Student Loans and Pell Grants**

The bill overhauls the student loan program and replaces all current loan repayment systems with plans that are far less accommodating.

Additionally, loan amounts will be capped and deferment options will no longer exist for those facing hardship or unemployment.

Pell Grants will include new eligibility restrictions and requirements. Tens of thousands of students could be penalized, lose eligibility or receive smaller awards, making college even less affordable.

The bill will eliminate Biden era regulations that assisted borrowers as well.

There will also be a tax increase on University endowments.

**Drill, Baby Drill**

The bill allows for more leasing of public lands for drilling, mining and logging and expedites government approval for these projects.

Cuts royalty fees once paid by companies to extract resources from the land; a Biden era measure that sought to address our country’s addiction to fossil fuels.

**Misc**

– Top 10% of earners receive roughly 80% of the benefits in the bill.
– Bottom 20% are estimated to *lose* close to $900 per year.
– Average wages are expected to fall and GDP is estimated to shrink over time.
– „Growth“ claims are unrealistic and unreliable.
– Special interests benefit from bailouts, subsidies and tax breaks

And what’s most suggestive about this bill is how its budgetary savings from all of its funding cuts are being used to pay for extended tax cuts and other policies that a majority of Americans oppose—instead of going towards reducing the deficit. This creates the illusion of „fiscal responsibility.“
