A question from total ignorance: Doesn’t anyone think to pull out a weapon and shoot to try to bring him down? There are recordings in which soldiers react too late, but in others they have the time to try but only seek cover as if that would protect them.
I have to imagine you are hoping they don’t notice you and most of the time you are probably terrified knowing this is the end. So yeah fight, flight, or freeze and they choose flight.
