    1. >“I don’t know who we are anymore,” another unnamed donor said.

Neither do we. Certainly not supporters of average working class Americans.

      >“I don’t know who we are anymore,” another unnamed donor said.

That sounds like a *you* problem.

    3. Maybe instead of insulting a member of your own party, you open your eyeballs and understand why he won

You don’t have to agree with all his policies but he managed to fire up a very young primary electorate of all people

    4. literallytwisted on

Top donors also known as „The people they actually work for! not you peasants“.

    5. StoppableHulk on

Democrats lose because the party tailors its speech to large donors whose priorities are in opposition to the voters and everyone can tell.

Its as simple as that. We all know why Kamala wouldn’t touch the topic of Gaza with a ten-foot pole, and its because AIPAC passed her a memo saying military aid to Israel for its genocide was taboo. She will not say why she can’t actually touch the topic, because part of the donors‘ control is her not being allowed to talk about why she can’t touch the topic. So she has to lie or donor-mouth her way around the subject.

That erodes voter faith, which heightens voter apathy. Heightened apathy makes the Democrats lean harder into fear-based messaging, which makes it clear they would rather use fear and intimidation to control voters rather than orient their policy by telling donors to fuck themselves.

Using fear and intimidation on people creates a heels-dug-in oppositional response, which manifests in them refusing to vote for any candidate, even if that’s the illogical outcome, because most people, like it or not, make decisions on emotions. And trying to intmidate people is poking their emotions, and going to illicit a strong opposing response.

This is how it is. This is just literally a factual sequence of events around the 2024 election.

Just as it is literally factual that Democrats are literally being paid by donors, lobbyists and corporations *not* to echo and embrace and pursue policies that resonate with voters, and they see that and they’re fucking sick of it.

\And so it is with every single policy they draft. *Everything* is handed to them by K street. Every speech is reviewed by K street. They can’t piss without oversight from donors.

If the party will not ditch the donors, they will not win. I mean, clearly. Look at their opposition. Literal nazi monsters, and that is demonstrably not enough fear to overcome the spite voters have for what Democrats have become.

It’s really fucking simple. So, so simple.

You will not focus-group your way out of this. You will not committee your way out of this decline.

The donors must be hurled out of the party, bodily, and politicians must echo the concerns of actual human beings who really exist.

If you do that, you will demolish Republicans. They will cease to exist as a party. But a handful of uber-rich fucks who believe their money entitles them to speak for all of us would lose out, and the party as it is believes their feelings and their money is more important than the integrity of the Republic.

The leadership is wrong, it doesn’t know what its doing, it doesn’t have the moral fortitude to do what is necessary to preserve our rights, and it must be primaried and these people must be ejected from the party.

If some ancient fuck is doing book tours and going to bougey weddings as people are rioting in the streets for their literal fucking lives and futures, then that ancient fuck is not representative of the people, and not fit to lead the party. Thanks for your service and please get the fuck out, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

What’s disgusting is having a bunch of party leaders who are so focused on enriching themselves that they won’t even bother giving a chance to young, dynamic leaders who clearly ignite a needed portion of the electorate.

    7. MalevolentTapir on

Did this „top donor“ specify what was „disgusting“ exactly? His skin tone, his religion, free buses?

    8. amped-up-ramped-up on

      Headline: **Top Democratic donors**

Body: *one unnamed donor…, another unnamed donor.*

That’s it, that’s the hard-hitting Independent journalism we know and love.

    9. williamgman on

Fuck them. They put us facing fascism. We need fresh views from popular candidates.

    10. Lostsailor73 on

Setting themselves up for a failing banal mid-term campaign with a repugnant blend of corporatism, redundancy, and isolation of the parties progressive wing as it was it their corporate donors demand.

    11. This the thing these donors don’t seem to get, the Post-Cold War Neo-Liberal status-quo is over. Its not coming back.

Your choices are giving up some of your wealth for a diet version of socialism and salvage some sense of democracy, or an authoritarian dictatorship where the guy in charge will just take all of your wealth and throw you into a gulag.

      Hard choice I know.

    12. No-Tomatillo-7566 on

So maybe find a better opponent than a disgraced retread senior citizen. Fuck this guy. Sounds like another asshole who thinks his money gives his tired losery voicee relevance.

    13. In other words, the same donors that put up nearly all of Cuomo’s thirty mil for the primary. „How dare those damn unwashed hippies not vote for our disgraced groper candidate? How will we steal back our contributions now?“

And the fact that they have the media mouthpiece here is just another tell they’re going to keep throwing whatever shit against the wall to ratfuck Mamdani and the NY Grassroots that came out for him: They would rather the dems lose to hold on to their control of a losing party rather than revitalize the Dems into one that might actually be able to get people to vote for it.

    14. Trump grabbed the Republican party by the pu**y… and made it his bitch.

Maybe someone grabbing the Democratic party by the balls and giving them a kick up the ass to wake those tired old geriatrics the fuck up…. isn’t such a bad thing.

    15. Stonkasaurus1 on

A happy and healthy work force should be the cornerstone of every political party. That is what Mandami is talking about and doing it with simply helping people and matching New Jersey’s tax rates. People are pissed off at being constantly beaten down while the wealthy reap the rewards and everyone else is disposable. Democrats better wake the fuck up because if they won’t be for the people, then someone else will be. That is what Mandami represents. Change.

    16. RestlessKitty on

This article uses the term “top Democratic donors” at least 5 times and yet only two “unnamed donors” are mentioned with a single line attributed to each of them.

Are we supposed to just take this at face value? Are these “top donors” to Cuomo’s campaign or to the party as a whole? What exactly are their contributions; what “top percentage” are they in?

This is just straight up shameless propaganda.

    17. OldFaithlessness1335 on

      Jesus H Christ

      1) No one gives a shit rich donor i section g the democratic party is why the dems are where they are. No one what diet GOP, when they can have the real full sugar version.

      2) Are there more important things happening, like Iran and that bill that just passed then the new york mayors primary….

      3) This is what New York primary voters wanted maybe you should try and support the dude and see what happens.

These cretins need to go, neo-liberal third way bull shit needs to die a very fast death. That shit is the direct cause of everything going happening today.

    18. “If this is what our party represents right now, I don’t want to be a part of this party,” one unnamed donor told The Hill after the disgraced sex pest Andrew Cuomo won the primary. “It’s disgusting, and it’s why we’re in the position we’re in.”

      Oh wait.

No dawg. You are the reason why we’re in the position we’re in.

    25. grenzowip445 on

What’s disgusting is the way the donor class tries to control the party over the will of the voters.

    26. ennuiinmotion on

You can have big donors or you can have the working class. You can’t have both.

    27. >“But House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, a Democrat from New York, said he wasn’t ready to endorse Mamdani yet.

      >“With respect to the Jewish communities that I represent, I think our nominee is going to have to convince folks that he is prepared to aggressively address the rise in antisemitism in the city of New York, which has been an unacceptable development,” Jeffries said on ABC’s This Week.

Translation: *”We’re beholden to our Jewish donors that’ll AIPAC the shit out of us if we dare support a Muslim.”*

A piece of rat shit served on a plate could’ve ran against Cuomo’s scandal filled ass…and it would’ve beat him.

The people are tired of Cuomo and the fact that the DNC can’t see it is them once again demonstrating their tone deaf attitude that will continue to bring them defeat.
