I’m shocked this didn’t pan out. On paper it was perfect.

It really shows something about how detached from reality these rich people are that they think that they have something figured out **that the rest of human society throughout all of history hasn’t figured out** and that all they have to do is dump a bunch of money into something and it will obviously work.

And it’s not like Akon is the only rich person attempting to build their own utopia. But that Utopia will only ever be techno-feudalism or technofascism. The basis for almost any utopian society involves mass murder and genocide. Most conflict and suffering in human society is based on differences in belief. So unless you’re willing to go out of your way to make sure that nobody in your Utopian city believes anything different than you, there will be conflict and suffering. So utopian societies are sort of inherently genocidal.

I, for one, am shocked that this proud high school attendee and noted blood diamond denier could not pull this off.
