Well he submitted a false flight plan and landed without permission

He modified his flight plan, which is illegal.

The base in Antarctica is a military base. Civilians can’t land there without base approval (you get a specific number for clearance and give it to ATC, which he didn’t do)

You also can’t land in that airspace without permission. You need two way communications, which he also didn’t have.

      Nothing UFO related here.

There’s a wormhole under the ice near the Wilkes mountain range. Not allowed to go anywhere near it.

    4. what he did is a crime if its over Podunk America much more so if its over the untouched frozen wilderness of Antarctica where there is no rescue if something goes wrong and no recovery for the environmental damage he would cause, his intentions being interesting doesnt save him from punishment for his crime being committed

Yeah, if I did that, I’d get arrested too. That’s expensive to investigate, and expensive to sweep under the rug. Countries don’t fuck around with flight plans. That’s how you get terrorists doing horrible things under your flag, lol. You can get permission to fly there, but you don’t get to just fly to foreign military bases without permission, especially if you’re lying about it.

A lot of people are leaving out that he landed at a Chilean airstrip right next to a Chilean station. He didn’t just land in a remote area of Chile’s claim.

Though I sympathize for the shit storm heading his way, he must have known that this was going to have severe consequences. I just don’t understand why he did it despite that.

But, but, but all the redditors say anyone can go anywhere in Antartica anytime.
