Well, good for him, but once this is done, we’re fucked. I’m completely resigned to this being the end of American democracy. This bill gives Trump his own private police force with a budget larger than the Marines. He will not concede power until he dies. Hard to say what happens after that.

This is just performative. It has no effect on whether the bill passes or not.

We all know it is going to be passed, Johnson got the vote already. But Jerrfries is correct, because the GOP has been doing it all the time: Passing important bills on midnight or 4 am.

This hold up can make all Americans know what’s going on, instead of just passing it midnight.

    4. Didn’t he recently break a record for the longest speech ? Wondering if he’s gonna take this to July 4th just to inconvenience the republicans

    5. So all of the GOP House who said they regretted voting for it, now have the power back in their hands to vote No, and will just vote for it anyway. Classic.

    6. I give Jeffries shit a lot, im glad he’s trying to do something, better than just rolling over, thank you Jeffries.

How did it make it this far? I thought Schumer stopped all of this when he so bravely changed the name of the bill?

They had a couple options before we got to this point, government shut down would have been nice. This is just performative.

    9. ICE is literally Trumps SS

Our last chance was in Nov and as evil as conservatives are, they wouldn’t have stopped. They are a literal cancer.

There’s no going back. He is literally above the law with his own private police. Laura Loomer is literally openly talking about killing 65 million people. White America brought us here since it could not abide another black head of state.

Any Trump supporter or Republican is beyond forgiveness.

I hope poor republican voters suffer disproportionately for enabling this when it passes

If passed will easily be the most evil terrible bill of our lives and a declaration of war.

Isreal gets a raise, while tax paying citizens get cuts. Trumps MIGA bill in action.

I think it’s fucking ridiculous that the ONLY thing democratic leadership is willing to do is just waste a bit of time and not accomplish anything meaningful.

All the Trump people are just doing whatever they want and forcing us to stop them. DO THAT!

We were this close to being OK, like there were more no votes than yes votes, but Mike Johnson is such a slimy disgusting fucking rat he really wants to fuck us all over.

I’m sorry but the way the Dems have handled this just shows we need to start from scratch. They have no idea how to fight. The GOP don’t give 2 shits who loses healthcare. Their voters don’t give 2 shits who loses healthcare. There was a clear way to attack them through all of this, and the Dems just shat the bed like they shit the fucking bed every single fucking time.

The angle to take was to shame these idiots over the debt. All we heard about was the national debt for months and months, and then they put forward this bill, which is completely opposed to that idea. They could have shamed them all into the ground, and none of them would be able to defend it. But no, like usual, the Dems don’t have any fucking clue how to win. They focus on something that the people who need to be convinced don’t give 2 shits about.

Burn it the fuck down and start over. Get these fucks out of office. Every last fucking one of them. They are absolutely fucking useless. They are complicit even.

I’m no fan of Hakeem Jeffries by any stretch, but this is way more significant than Cory Booker’s „Please remember me when it’s time to run for President“ speech a couple months back.

Will this actually stop anything? No, probably not. But it will force the vote to happen in the daytime and will provide great soundbites for anyone running against Republicans in vulnerable districts.

    17. This is the push I need. It’s time to get out of the country. We are watching as the Republicans are handing a war chest to a man who has allies stating they want to kill 65 million people. I can’t do this anymore.

    18. Any chance we can bombard the yes votes in battleground districts with calls from constituents to try and get them waffling? Much as I hate Musk it would help if he funded those spots or their opponents based on this…

Each member should get up there and read the bill from start to finish.

Can’t wait for all those welfare queens who vote red to finally have to work for their government handouts

    21. I noticed that your house was on fire. I brought this thimble full of water.

    22. Why are none of them pointing out how they are over funding ICE, Detention Camps, and Border Control more than the US Military?

    23. murphysfriend on

I don’t have a pony in the race, but; They were trying to say that they put“ No tax on people who perform Overtime’s income” in this bill. I doubt that is anywhere at all in this bill.

    24. evil4life101 on

We’ve seen this story over and over again during Trump’s last presidency. No matter how much Democrats push back and Republicans pretend to turn on each other this disaster of a bill is going to pass :/
