Ah, the beginning of the end for the UCP. It’s only a matter of time before they split into the old PC and Wildrose again.
The “Unite the Right” movement is a failure federally and provincially. The only conservative who was capable of managing different right-wing factions successfully was Stephen Harper, and I don’t even think he could do it again in today’s political climate.

Ah yes, the Alberta NDP is „too far one way“. Probably one of the most centrist parties in the country.
It’s interesting that we’re seeing potential splits in several provincial conservatives parties. In BC there’s the new Right Wing populist One BC party and Centre right Centre BC. In Manitoba Shelly Glover is talking about forming a new Centre-right party. In Ontario there’s the Neoconservative Project Ontario trying to take control of the OPCs.
It’s going to be an uphill battle for the new PC party in Alberta as with every new centre-right conservative party because moderate conservatism is a lot harder to rally a passionate and active base when compared to the more right wing parties.
There are more things to be against than for. You cannot unite around what to be against, at least not for very long.
