I’m a Xennial, and one of the things that pulled me away from organized religion was stuff like this. Sinners are terrible and should always be reminded of their sin, unless they’re people like Swaggart, in which case the Devil made him do it and he was forgiven by Jesus so stop talking about it. Oh he was caught doing the same thing again? Devil again, shut up about it.

God rest my grandmother’s soul, but she used to watch dreck like Jimmy Swaggart every Sunday morning, along with other televangelists of the day like Robert Schuller, Oral Roberts and his son Richard, and a couple others even on weekday mornings before the network morning news (GMA, Today, and whatever CBS was attempting). They’re all grifters and con-men that ended up in some sort of scandalous events (like Jim Bakker embezzling money from his ministry and sleeping around on his wife)…don’t feel sorry for any these clowns, Swaggart included.
Rest in hell, Jimbo.
