    1. Yikes, really? The US had slaves, internment camps, dropped atomic bombs, imposed Jim Crow in the south, and it took Trump to make us less proud?

The more I learn about the past of America, the more I know it was never great. And cynically our present show little hope of it being actually great.

I have always considered the term “American Exceptionalism” a misnomer or maybe just plain bullshit.

Wait till folks here realize just how economicaly they’ve been screwed compared to literally every other industrialized democratic nation. That’s if it’s ever reported to them by MSM.

    5. I was watching something on YouTube and there was some mention of the happenings in 2013, it is painfully apparent that the Obama era was better. Hell, even the Bush era was better in some ways despite the economy and invading the wrong countries. The fact people don’t see the obvious connection between the crassness in our society, the terminal anger, the distrust – and the rise of a certain politician, is concerning to me.

I love my country for what it can be.

I am not proud of my country for what it presently is being.

Let’s not mince words. I’m disgusted with my country. I am especially disgusted with Republican lawmakers who have abdicated their responsibility and their power to prevent the downfall of American democracy. Fuck them all the way to hell.

    8. I’m disgusted by my country. And to be fair, the government didn’t JUST start ratfucking its citizens.

When I was growing up I was taught that the USA is the good guy who helps other countries because we are so kind. Largely missing from those history lessons were the war crimes we committed. We always sucked. The American I thought I knew is tarnished forever.

Who’s proud of being treated like shit so some rich asshole can buy another fucking yacht?

A criminal president, a tv show administration, a joke of a supreme court that blatantly worships their orange god, and the streets are cursed with unmarked vans full of strangers in unmarked clothing who kidnap people without warrants or explanation to vanish away to a torture prison without trial.

I’m not American but as someone looking in, what is there to be proud of? The rest of the world is embarrassed *for* you.

We’re a bigoted, hateful, violent country that rewards greed and ignorance over intelligence and compassion. What’s there to like about this shit hole…

    13. bigfatfluffers on

What’s there to be proud of? Veterans dying on the street? Children going hungry? Children getting shot in school? I’m curious, what is there to actually be proud of. I’m ashamed of my country.

    14. Im not even celebrating the 4th this year. Im disgusted and embarrassed at this administration and all its cult members.

    15. Greedy_Indication740 on

Proud of my country? I hate my country. That’s what this administration, courts and the mass of republicans have wrought. There is no saving this cesspool. I’m fully expecting to watch it burn into the night like some fetid, bloated dumpster fire.

Truth. I’m not even celebrating Independence Day this year. How fucking embarrassing this place is.

I have never felt less proud. I love my country, and yet when I look at the Fourth of July merchandise, I’m like nope, no way.

    18. I love my country, but our current president represents the worst parts of the American mind come to life. He’s like a living bag of garbage.

    19. Sure_Quality5354 on

A racist rapist was elected twice. What the fuck is there to be proud of? I stopped celebrating july 4th a while ago because if the founders saw this country today, they would have gone back to england

America is live my child. I can love my child while being critical and disgusted by its behavior. Right now America needs a spanking, a grounding, and sent to summer school until its grades improve.

    21. I am ashamed of my country. Gone are the days when we inspired the values of Superman and Captain America. Now, we strive to emulate Tony Montana.

    22. I thought we probably peaked in the 90s. Although Reagan did plant the seeds of destruction. Very sad what happened since then.

    23. Losing party should learn to suck less and win elections. Woe unto the vanquished.

    24. SomnusInterruptus on

Fuck the Fourth of July this year and every year for the foreseeable future. This country is nothing worth celebrating.

    25. Practical-Bit9905 on

Proud of what? We are untrustworthy allies. We are hateful and backwards in our polices now. We are dismantling our democracy. The rule of law is gone, removed by our highest court. Open corruption for the benefit of the rich is the rule. All because Christian death cults think they’ll hasten the end times and Billionaires own us.

We are a shithole country now. There’s nothing to be proud of.

    26. Less proud??

      Should be appalled. Embarrassed. Disgusted.

Less proud?? There should be no pride left.

    27. I’ve had God Bless The USA pop up on my Spotify shuffle a few times recently and I have quickly skipped past it because I am definitely not “proud to be an American”. Hearing that song makes me so angry now.

We’ve elected a serial felon and sex offender who is poisoning our country because he’s being blackmailed by russia. He’s also endlessly funded and enabled by christo-fascists and oligarchs.

Lawlessness and evil are on a rampage. Our congress and courts are either neutered or tacitly complicit.

Ignorance and cruelty are celebrated by propaganda fed to “homeschooled” masses hopelessly ill equipped to identity the sinister messages in the “news” that only reinforces their subservience.

Hypocrisy and lies are unchecked. No one knows the truth for sure. This is by very purposeful design.

The corruption is so large and so pervasive it’s like a DDoS attack on a justice system itself lead by an entirely compromised and incompetent leader who will actively thwart any investigation and accountability with absolutely no recognition of the immorality let alone illegality of her actions.

People are being kidnapped off the street by masked men who refuse to identify themselves. This serves not only to inflict trauma upon their victim, but to intimidate the rest of Americans.

They’re building a concentration camp in Florida.

Right now, the US Senate is debating a bill that will harm many Americans to benefit a few. It’ll eventually pass because see above.

Everything that made America great is in decline. This is what putin wanted. It’s what he’s getting.

    29. I’m a veteran and I’m embarrassed to tell people.

Like they might think I support Trump or something. I got out the year he was elected.

I’m absolutely disgusted by what’s happening.
Ruining our relations with multiple countries, killing our economy, rolling back protections etc?

      Fuck sakes!

    31. BorisAcornKing on

Americans have no reason to be proud.

There’s literally an unaccountable, masked secret police walking the streets, executing foreigners, kidnapping and deporting tourists and citizens. People don’t even have the audacity to do anything about it except hide in crowds one day and then get picked off the next, complaining about it on the internet.

Americans deserve their fate unless they start fighting back. Nobody is shedding a tear for you guys.

      Rot. You deserve to.

Top advisor is detained ‚for having t-shirt with a political message‘ after returning from Turks and Caicos

      https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14856429/Rick-Taylor-detained-political-message-shirt-Turks-caicos.html

Taylor still isn’t sure why he was detained, but he keeps coming back to the shirt with the political message on it.
‚I kept thinking, if we’re in a country where packing an Obama T-shirt makes you nervous at the border, what kind of America are we living in? This isn’t the America I was raised in,‘ he said.
‚Next time, I’ll think twice about what I pack. That’s not something I ever thought I’d have to consider in this country.‘
His advice to others is to ‚really think twice about traveling internationally while you have this administration in charge.‘
Daily Mail reached out to Customs and Border Protection about this incident.
‚If Mr. Taylor feels the need to, he is more than welcome to file a complaint online on our website and someone will reach out to him to try and get to the bottom of things,‘ CBP Public Affairs Specialist Alan Regalado told the LA Times in an email.
Former Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky was outraged by the alleged mistreatment of Taylor, who once served as Yaroslavsky’s chief of staff.
Yaroslavsky compared it to how Sen. Padilla was arrested and handcuffed during a June 12 Homeland Security press conference in Los Angeles.
