Conservatives shocked that telling people who started their celebration by throwing bricks at cops don’t respect their authority when they say no more gay stuff.
Better title: U.S. Pride celebrations stand defiant against MAGA bigotry.
I still hear people young and old call people „gay“ or say something bad is „gay“ all the time, sadly. Like someone will shoot a free throw in pick up rec bball and then shout „gay!“ when their shot swings out of the rim. Or jokingly calling people the f word. The slurs never died and I cringe when I hear it. Unfortunately, many people still see homosexuality as a sin or a mental illness, along with the slurs being normalized.
A lot of us really needed these massive celebrations to blow off steam. It’s been a really fucking hard year. they’re actually on the way to legally defining trans people as “obscene” like we’re pornography so we can go back to getting arrested in public for just existing.
I see why we need some support but I personally love pride parades and the smaller gatherings around pride.
What Pride does MAGA have?
If MAGA were so proud of who they are, they wouldn’t spend all their time tearing other people down.
It shows how ashamed they are of their own pathetic, boring and unsuccessful lives
That’s the whole point and purpose of Pride, y’all. Love in defiance of adversity. We exist and we refuse to hide who we are or disappear or sit quietly and shut up.
You demonized us in the 50’s. You let our people die in the 80’s. You tried to keep us all in the closet in the 90’s. You vilified us in the early 2000’s and tried to suggest that giving us marriage equality and basic human rights would lead to chaos and doom and gloom. And every time we overcome. The religious right is hell bent on trying to squash us down and make us small over and over in perpetuity and our answer, our eternal answer, is a full, proud, resounding „no.“
Pride doesn’t need your permission or approval. We are here, we are queer, and we will continue to exist regardless of however you may feel about us. If you enjoy Pride, great! Thanks for being an ally. If you are against it, tough shit, mind your business. No one is stopping you from living your life however you like, so stay the fuck out of ours. And if you try to shut Pride down, my good friend Marsha P. Johnson has a pretty solid response for ya. 🧱🏳️🌈

Honestly I fear that everyone LGBTQ needs to get out of the country soon or it is to late.
People still life in this weird limbo, believing everything will be OK in the long run.
