Are we still getting freaked by this act? Are we still feeling threatened by his 51st State talk? I think most of us are just fed up with it.
Oh this is all performative.
We gave the US dairy carve outs when they wanted to renegotiate NAFTA into USMCA. There is an exemption on dairy tariffs for US products sold in Canada up to a certain limit.
The thing is they have never sold enough product here to hit that cap which makes his argument a moot point. Canadians just don’t buy US dairy it would seem and taking the cap off won’t change that.
Alright Doug, Mark, and every other Canadian politician. You said he was done with the 51 state shit.
He’s making you all look like fools, time to follow through on those original threats.
Doug get that energy export tax going.
Mark time to export tax potash and oil.
He straight up said he doesn’t need our stuff; so let’s charge them market price :). The extra income would be really nice right about now.
So Carney just said 4 days ago that Trump has no interest in annexing Canada and has said repeatedly that the 51st state stuff is over with. What are we doing here cause he’s brought it up about 5 times in the last week alone, Carneys done a lot of grandstanding but the issue seems to be exactly where it was months ago.
Carney is already walking a tightrope, if he keeps looking weak on the Trump issue there goes his biggest advantage
It’s obvious he would keep doing this nonsense but at the same time, Mark Carney should not be shielded for breaking all of his promises.
Just proves that no matter what is said and done he will remain a threat until he’s gone. Never trust a word he says nor anything he signs.
We should not be making deals with developing or underdeveloped nations, or the US.
We should be carving out deals with countries that are like us, we do our best to work on the environment, human rights, labor laws, programs to uplift a nation. That would be Western Europe and the UK, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
If the rest want to join in, they have to meet our standards instead of us allowing countries to have shitty standards thereby having a lower costs, so they can cut us out of our own economy.
