Did we have people shouting for the deaths of British soldiers in Afghanistan or Iraq? I remember maybe one or two people saying things like that online, but it didn’t spread much beyond edgy online teens.

The scholarly consensus is that the IDF is committing genocide. Our rules based international order says it’s a genocide.

No I don’t support Hamas or Hezbollah, nor am I anti-semitic, I’m on the side of the kids being slaughtered.

Is it possible to condemn the actions of the IDF and Israel while not inciting violence on others?

There are ways to support Palestine and the people of Gaza without wishing death on others and supporting a terrorist organisation that has stated they want to kill Jews.

Maybe I’m the odd one out here – and I’m sure I’ll be about to find out with the downvotes coming my way – but so many comments seem to ignore the irony of wanting the deaths of some people to stop while supporting calls for the deaths of other people.

Maybe it’s just me.

People will desperately try to justify this type of language as an acceptable form of protest, similarly to how many on here glorified the strategies of groups such as Palestinian Action.

This is an example of extreme language and behaviour, which serves to lower the boundaries of peaceful protest.

It’s therefore very difficult to view such actions as a serious attempt to promote a pathway for peace that benefits both Gazans and Isrealis.

Instead, it comes across as if he’s engaging in militia cosplay, through an attempt to posture as some sort of revolutionary figure. When like kneecap, I suspect his primary purpose right now exists to maximise profit from an audience that’s drawn in by the illusion of liberation.

I agree there should be questions.

Politics and political statements should not be voiced from the stage at a music festival. It should be left to politicians.
Politicians are the voice of the people that elected them.
SOMETIMES, POLITICIANS NEEDED TO BE REMINDED OF THIS AND WHAT THE PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY THINKING.

Which is why you SOMETIMES NEED political statements at music festivals.

Vylan could have evened things out a bit by chanting ‚Death to Hamas‘ as well.

The IDF literally murdered a British ex-marine who was volunteering for aid charity.

A British ex-marine > some skinny conscript who’s term is just 18 months including training.

And fyi: The marine volunteered *before* the conflict and never planned to be near Gaza.

If there’s ever peace between Israel and Palestine a hell of a lot of people are going to lose the only thing that defines their entire personality

think its so pathetic the politicians of this country are losing their minds over graffiti and festival chants but conveniently shut their eyes when it comes to innocent children being slaughtered. kier starmer cries about palestine action being a terrorist group meanwhile he supports israel whose soldiers opened fire on weaponless civilians trying to get food for their families. and i’m supposed to take him seriously? bore off.

You can argue the morality of the IDF all day long. Wrong, right, good, bad, evil whatever.

But if you call for violence against something or someone, you have given up your moral standing over violence. You can’t complain about violence. It’s no longer about what right, is about about who can force their version of right.

Lets just say Mosssd kills these people, which is 100% wrong, a complete over reaction (and not actually happening).

They don’t get to take a moral stance though. A lot of people don’t seem to get this. Especially in safer more developed places.

If you choose violence, call for it, you open yourself to it.

You’re either against it, or for it.

Being for it, but only against someone/something you don’t like, and they don’t get to do it back isn’t a thing.

This seems to be lost, unsurprisingly on people who are protected from the consequences of thier words and actions.

Let’s hope noone he’s calling to kill take it literally.

Was I the only one who thought the chant meant „destroy the institution that’s carrying out a genocide“ rather than „please specifically go out and murder every single soldier without trial“?
When you keep gaslighting and silencing people who just want to stop this horror show, they’re going to get louder and the chants will probably get less nuanced. Maybe stop your party from facilitating an active genocide before you complain about people shouting stuff you find mildly unpleasant at a festival.
