I love how two posts down is a Chinese hack article. Yeah, totally, let’s buddy up to the authoritarians to avoid another authoritarian

I thought I knew what I was getting into with this article, but *wow*. No I did not.
You can smell the CCP on this from a mile away. You’d think their influence would be a little more subtle.

No thanks, CCP is a criminal organization, when China gets rid of these thieves, then sure we should trade with China.

How about no?
Literally any accusation people have about why we should avoid America is infinitely amplified by China.
Free Tibet?
Free Hong Kong?
(Are we about to ask for a free Taiwan next? Looking like it!)
Organ harvesting?
Concentration camps?
Global destabilization?
Drug trafficking?
Guilty for COVID?
Communist?
Detention and murder of Canadian citizens?
Stealing Canadian IP, both corporate, and research?
Need I go on?
By lying with this dog, we’re in for a lot worse than fleas.

Sorry, why is The Rabble pro-China exactly?
Just because it’s anti-West?
Does China do anything else that progressives can point to and say, „Yes, this aligns totally with my beliefs.“
They burn 9 times the amount of coal that the US does (and that’s increasing), they persecute Islamic minorities (I’m not talking about micro-aggressions, I mean they engage in arbitrary arrests, detention and torture), they continue to arm Russia in its invasion of Ukraine and they crackdown on any kind of legitimate protest (in a way even that fuckface Trump never has).
What it is about China that makes left wingers feel they see an ally, exactly?

But China is not serious about trade with Canada.
Canada has tried with China for 35+ years, but China just does not get how the western world works.
China can’t really function in a western context anymore than they already do, without serious changes to how the CCP functions, and they think the entire western hegemony is going to somehow bend to the will of the CCP.
We are better off developing trade relationships with India.

While I agree that the „*locus of the world’s economy* has shifted to Asia“, likely our best route is through a multilateral partnerships with Australia and Japan, the most prominent example of which is the *Trans-Pacific-Partnership* of which [Australia, Japan, and Canada] ate the three largest economies. This is probably better than hard pivoting in favour of China (we maxed that out between 1980 – 2016).

So we’re just to pretend they didn’t arbitrarily detain two of our citizens for years? Launder money through casinos in BC? Intimidate MPs?
