Trump doesn’t know how to end a speech or stop talking. So, he had a brain Fart and blabbed some *God* shite.

It has SANE people concerned. American Christians and conservatives love it because they see it as the government embracing their religion. A lot of them also see Trump as god delivered to save America.

Tuned into both Trump’s press statement last night and Hegseth this morning. They both went heavy on the religious tones, which is the messaging that the Heritage Foundation is pushing. Can’t return to Conservative and traditional family values if the top isn’t pushing at least lip service to it all the time.

It is those people that believe they have God on their side, are the ones that we need to worry about.

*And I want to just thank everybody. And, in particular, God. I want to just say, we love you, God, and we love our great military. Protect them. God bless the Middle East. God bless Israel and God bless America.*
Does not capture the awkward pauses, and was just odd. I’ve heard plenty of elderly start to slip & this sounded worse.

I grew up in a Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage household. I knew the organization „Focus on the Family“ from their tagline at the end of Christian-themed radio dramas like *Unshackled* or various other FM Radio Evangelical broadcasts. I was an altar boy in a small, Lutheran Church (the only child, actually). Suffice to say, I was raised „deep in the stuff“ by thrice-divorced parents in rural North Carolina.
The number of times in my life I have heard my batshit insane family say Trump was „sent by God“ to „save America“ is almost exactly equal to the number of times I’ve been told (by the same people) that „God doesn’t need you to be a good Christian to save America.“ That’s the kind of actual, insane, dangerous cognitive dissonance we’re dealing with here. Somehow, a country founded by some of the *least* religious thinkers of their day has become a place where even the barest hint of inquiry into religious values and beliefs is a third rail issue that resolves in Christians claiming there’s some kind of „anti-Christian bias“ because I have a vague curiosity where their central text tells them to live like violent, selfish, awful people.
A politician using the word „God“ in this prescriptive sense *never* ends well.
I have a deep and abiding belief in a Creator. My creator, however, isn’t the kind of deadbeat dad to send his kid to be crucified because he wasn’t totally clear about why you can’t eat *those* apples some thousands of years prior. My creator isn’t so pitifully human as to demand the worship of mewling insects who can’t even be bothered to feed one another. Whatever created everything, if it has any vested interest in us at all, would probably be *more* upset that several million people have spent most of human history using some manipulated version of its beneficence to condone their violent, selfish, awful behaviors.

Not strange at all. He’s a provocateur of war. He must now endear himself to the Christian Nationalists in order to gain favor within middle- class America. This is the same principle as immediately starting a USA USA chant whenever they are challenged in debate.
