Honestly I feel like Borat said everything that style of humor could have said, and I don’t blame or mind SBC for going more mainstream
Following Borat with a direct Borat 2 imitation (immediately after 1 I mean, I know there’s a sequel) wouldn’t have been able to top the first.
That being said, SBC’s subsequent movies weren’t that great so I understand where the director is coming from.
As much as I’m sure Borat made him tons of money, it also sorta ruined his career. It was hard to get work for a long time because no one could see him as anything other than Borat.
I’m not a Borat fan and I haven’t seen him in much else so I don’t know how great of an actor he is or not, but it’s understandable that he wanted to do something else.
Oh no Sacha pulled a howard stern on him.
„traditional movie star“
lol, no
Eh I’d say “Who is America” is still pretty standard SBC
He seems like a guy that would be hard to get along with. He did one of those YouTube interviews, for Variety I think, discussing all his roles over the years, and the way he talks himself up seemed insufferable. It sounded like he made every project he was in more of a headache. Like he’s a comedic genius sure, but in describing his process he definitely seems like the type to sniff his own farts.
He was describing shooting the Trial of Chicago 7 movie with Aaron Sorkin, one of the best screenplay writers of all time, and how he basically directed his scenes himself and wanted to improv this and that, and how brilliant it all was, and I just wish we could hear Sorkins opinion on that situation.
„I don’t want to do the same schtick the rest of my life, I want to try other things“
„You’re dead to me!!!“
This is like the year after high school when some people stay in their suburb or small town and others leave. Except these two are grown men
Borat would have been such a great movie, except it had that *one* scene that just went *way* too far and kinda’ ruined it for me. Do you know that scene I’m talking about?
