Totally not shocked at this. We’ve known the administration was racist with their mass deportation policy, dog-whistle politics, overwhelming support from white supremacist groups and 88-foot flag poles at the White House. Purging the military of non-white soldiers is just the next step, and they’ll use this as one excuse.

the thing about civil rights is they’re not one and done. all freedom, all liberty requires constant upkeep. voting is a minor aspect of that upkeep. the last five years have seen the largest voter turnouts in history, as well as the largest protest movements in history. this period, will be remembered 100 years from now as the 2nd major civil rights era, that is if we ultimately succeed but everyone needs to know that mid-terms won’t fix this, 2028 won’t fix this. this is a fight that will take decades.

So some people can get religious exemptions in the military to grow their hair out OR TO refuse required immunizations for themselves and their children but because some service members hair curl as it naturally grow out of their skin they can be discharged?

I think the people behind these kinds of policies are the same ones going after gay and transgender members of the military because they feel more empowered than ever in this moment.
So maybe subtle isn’t the right word seeing as—under the guise of „Making America Great Again“—these people feel like they’ve been given license to reverse decades of progress on civil rights, and because *they’re* the victims of „diversity,“ „wokeness,“ and some bullshit narrative of „reverse discrimination,“ and all of which represent existential threats to their white, Christian hegemony and their ideas about a culture of heteronormativity in America.
