I don’t like hearing eating/chewing in films, and I really wish movies and tv shows had less of that.
Also, I totally hate eating in front of people at all, I wouldn’t be able to do it on camera.

Eating authentically on camera is difficult for a few reasons. Continuity. Diets and Allergies. Actors chewing too long, bits getting stuck on teeth/tongue, moving the food around on the plate. Resets. The spit bucket also isn’t fun for anyone.

Eating is one of the least sexy things a person can do. And talking while eating— on a date— a tricky situation.

She needs to talk to Brad Pitt, he’s a master at it.

Incredibly common thing for actors. Most food for movie and TV show scenes doesn’t taste good because it’s been sitting around for ages while everything gets set up and/or was designed more for how it looks on camera over tastes…then most scenes have multiple takes and retakes so they have to be „eating“ the same thing over and over again and then if there are multiple camera setups or stops/starts within the scene they have to match how much they were „eating“ every time the camera goes back to them.
Then if they don’t swallow within the shot they spit out whatever they were eating into a bucket just out of frame before starting again.

Makes sense, eating is weird sometimes.
