If by normal you mean common, then the answer is no; I’ve never seen it get so close to WWIII.

It’s should be reassuring though that your hotel has taken measures to protect you in the unlikely case that something happens

Shit, that’s no something I want to see when trying to relax at a nice resort. We’re supposed to come in 2 weeks (4 years in s row in Cyprus) but I’m really questioning it now.

It’s starting to look like the new normal. My guess is that a lot of guests might have been slightly alarmed and asking about the situation – In that case it would seem the best course of action is to say „everything is fine but we will continue to monitor it if things change so you are safe“ (As opposed to saying „yeah don’t worry, everything is fine“ which is a lot less reassuring when you’re trying to relax, since now YOU need to be vigilant).

I would actually be upset with the Azia Hotel management for spreading fear among guests (“possible hotel closure”).

Cyprus is not involved in any active conflict nor is there any current threat to the Paphos area.

Tourists should be able to relax in Cyprus without fear and anxiety.
The Middle East has been torn by conflict for decades but this has no meaningful impact on your safety in Cyprus

  5. Yes, that’s normal. We get a new Israeli war every second Friday of the month.

Well, when you let the british use your island as an aircraft carrier for the genocide express…

The people with the downvotes live in denial 🤣 the British put a huge red target on Cyprus, if you don’t acknowledge this you are brainwashed.

Although I believe it’s mostly the bases that will be targeted I think is wise for everyone to not play dumb to the possible risk.

RAF Akrotiri has been critical for:
    • Gulf War (1990–91)
    • Iraq War (2003–2011)
    • Syria & Iraq (anti-ISIS coalition, from 2014 onwards)
    • Evacuations and airlifts from conflict zones (e.g., Lebanon 2006, Sudan 2023)
    • Has been used to assist in various ways in the war in Gaza
    • Hosting Typhoon and F-35 deployments and Voyager refueling aircraft

It serves as a launch pad for RAF operations into the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East, and North Africa.

I could probably guess that this did more bad than good. Cyprus is not a player in the game between Israel and Iran. The only thing this paper does is scare people even more because it’s making it look like an attack is imminent.

There have been multiple wars in the Middle East some way more deadly and destructive than what’s happening right now with Iran, and Cypress was always fine.

I know they probably made this flyer to calm down the guests, but it most likely did the opposite

PS: and especially like, Pafos? If this was in Larnaca where you can see the missiles, I’d say it’s understandable to try and calm down the guests, but as far as I can tell you can’t really see the missiles from Pafos.

  9. Is Azia the only hotel that issued such a notice, on their own initiative? Or did other hotels do this, too?

Well done to hotel management thinking about contingencies. Better be prepared than nothing at all.

  11. Yes well in case one of their ballistic or hypersonic overshoot Israel and head north

Its all fun and games until you hear Alahu Akbar in the spa area haha fear mongering. They all want to drag us in the mess called the middle east so bad and everyone is eating it up. Please do give the excuse to the Neo Sultan to finish us off.
