Combat drones have overshadowed firearms just like firearms overshadowed bows/swords in the late Renaissance era. In both examples, the previous weapon didn’t instantly become useless (in fact, knives are still used in combat today) however these shifts mark a significant ’step‘ in the technological level of warfare.
I am saying this because when combat drones were only starting to be used in late 2022/early 2023, some people said they were only useful due to Ukraine’s geography. However with this, (and examples from the middle east) it goes to show that combat drones have become a universal weapon, just like an AK or M4.
