I live just a couple miles away from him. He and his wife are pillars of the community (his wife is a public school teacher). It’s a miracle he and his wife survived. The community is very shaken by all of this.

The thing they rarely cover is even surviving a shooting like this has lifelong consequences. It will be weeks / months in hospitals and years in rehabilitation and PT and it’s frequently the case that shooting survivors never have the same quality of life after.

I am not smart enough to calculate the odds of both of them surviving so many gunshot wounds, but they have got to be pretty low.

i find it odd that he didn’t ensure that they were dead, with a fatal shot. if he shot them that many times they were certainly in a position to do so. and how did the daughter escape without getting hurt at all? how did the police know to go to the hortmans house when the call was for the hoffmans?
