I really like Pete for pres, but if rural America couldn’t get over a woman in the White House I don’t think they’re ready for any member of the LGBTQ community. Too much hate spewing from the Fox hose this administration to convince those that need convincing to vote for him. Hope I’m wrong
He’s been great. I think lots of really wonderful people will step up to the challenge.

I love him. But the US is racist and homophobic and I’m sure many evangelicals will use who he chooses to love against him.
Which is a shame, the man is bright and gets shit done. Really loved his infrastructure and air travel updates. And he knows how to speak well.
Would be great to have him as part of a White House team someday. Hopefully Americans can weather the next 4 years, although at this point whoever inherits that mess, I don’t envy. 4 years won’t be enough to undo the damage done in 3 months already. Ugh.

I’m a conservative but would probably vote for Pete if he ran next cycle. Heard him speak on a YouTube interview a few weeks ago and he was refreshingly articulate and reasonable.
Saying an LGBTQ candidate can’t be president because other people are homophobic is itself homophobic. Just like Sanders saying a woman couldn’t be president was sexist and people saying Obama couldn’t be president were racist. It takes away the way the person’s humanity and agency and says that all that they are is their sexual orientation. Buttigieg is a great candidate who is a great campaigner and a great speaker who can inspire people. He has a good chance of winning. Yes, he may have to overcome some bigotry, but LGBTQ people have been overcoming bigotry for centuries.
