The absolute gaul for being charged for someone to tell you about a war 5000 miles away that you’re already funding with your own tax money

    2. I’ve had dealing with BBC Worldwide and its clear that they’re too wedded to the UK licence for income and too shy to capitalise on their popularity outside the UK and make money.

They could make enough money outside the UK with their content to fund anything they want and even reduce the licence fee in the UK. They need to operate more like a business and less like a government arm, especially in international markets.

Free access to impartial news is the core of the BBC’s global soft-power. It must remain free to be perceived as impartial.

However, a global subscription to BBC Sounds & iPlayer for entertainment is an excellent idea. I would pay 10 quid a month for that.

Standards of journalism at the BBC have been slipping for years. The standard of English on the website, which used to be exemplary is now dire.

    5. How can it be impartial if their financial model requires attracting an American audience? The US media is so polarised and their viewers expect it. Look at the Dominion Voting Systems defamation case where Fox News felt compelled to report false claims they knew were „insane“ to avoid alienating their audience. What’s to stop the BBC making compromises on facts to avoid losing viewers?

Killed the cash cow Top Gear – deserved it. Spending way too much money on shit content and paying its people shit loads of money, without proper accountability.
Some people within BBC clearly think they are above the law and can get away with murder, simply because they are on TV or famous.
