Oof.
Kinda feel bad for them. That’s gotta be a big ego hit.
Honestly it sounds like their management team is lights out. „Didn’t sell? Shift venue like we planned.“
I just read something about how not even top super groups can fill these stadiums and are paying people to be seat fillers so it looks like they did; and some groups smartly refusing and just doing smaller venues even if it doesn’t look as impressive.
Honestly, this headline is a little misleading. Because yes, they are technically “canceled” but they’re still playing the same cities on the same date, just in smaller venues. They’re unfortunately separate booking so fans will have to still buy different tickets, but it isn’t like they canceled the shows altogether, they’re still performing.
Do smaller venues. Its intimate for both and makes more fans
Fuck live nation. Unrelated but they are the main cause behind high ticket prices.
I saw a show once in my local performing arts hall. Wasn’t as expensive as stadium tickets seem to be, still seated a lot, and the sound was really good as it’s typically used for an orchestra, so they had sound systems already there and the hall itself was designed to be good for sound (a specific type of sound, but still).
Exactly what the Black Keys had to do with this new tour.
Long story short:
People are learning to vote with their wallets. *Some* of these “bigger” acts need to do smaller venues. In truth the smaller to mid sized venues are better anyway. People don’t want to pay exorbitant prices and now they are finding out.
They’ve been touring for a few years now, not surprised.
They’re not exactly a band you go all out for annually
Man fuck this. I was going to wait closer to date to get Chicago tickets but now I won’t go at all. The 1st venue was a 10min walk from me and has been changed to an hour drive.
