Obviously reddit isn’t reality but I think regardless of who wins the leadership it’ll irritate a portion of ndp supporters

As an NDP supporter but very critical one I just want a leadership race of honesty, transparency, and integrity.

I like the idea of economic democracy being central to how the party moves forward with an identity.

Really emphasize that old school connection with Unions, Provincial Federation of Labours, Labour Councils, and other individuals and organizations in the Labour Movement.

Get an identity, perspectives, and policies that are a substantive/analytical alternative to the Liberals and Conservatives.

Also for goodness sakes figure out how to connect and communicate (General messaging) better than what has been happening. This needs major work.

    3. In the west, the NDP has been successful because they basically became the Liberals, meaning a pragmatic centre-left party, which is not at all what the federal NDP wants to be. Perhaps they are slightly more friendly with unions, but they were not ideologues. For the NDP to win federally, they would basically have to destroy the Liberal party like we have seen happen in the western provinces, but the last opportunity for that was squandered.

Even if you look at the „orange wave“, the NDP was not remotely close to forming government. Yes, they got nearly all the seats in Quebec, but they were 20 points behind in Ontario and BC, without which they can’t hope to form government.

For now the party needs to focus on regaining party status, which is a difficult task in of itself. Poilievre is a strong headwind against the party.

Off to a bad start , voting against the throne speech because it didn’t include details about dropping the price of peanut butter.

Do some soul searching sure , take some alternative approaches yes please , but denying the throne speech like that to me shows they’re just going to go down the same road of thinking that saying “ I do my own groceries shopping “ will win them Canadian votes .

    5. I do want a decent leadership fee I’m fine with 100 max. As for a leadership race I think an 8 month race is enough. I don’t want like 13 but I think 6 is an ideal amount of candidates.

NDP needs to decide what kind of party it wants to be.
