I respect that! And I’m also, I’m tired of reboots. Let’s have an original project FFS

Respect to Brad Garrett but I don’t think anyone was/is/will be clamoring for a reboot.
HOWEVER, I guaran-damn-tee you some lazy network exec has already pitched, „Okay…it’s Everyone Loves Raymond but the kids from the original series are now the stars of the show and Raymond and his wife (whatshername…) are now the meddling parents living across the street!“

He looks like the perfect live action Rick if they did a live Rick and Morty

I mean he’s right, the parents kind of made the show.
I didn’t like it exactly (Ray treated his wife like shit) but my parents loved it, so I watched it and the parents were the stars lbr.

Well technically Ray and Debra would fill that role and the kids would play the roles that you and Ray and Debra used to fill.
But yes, the formula only worked with their level of selfishness.

He’s not wrong, they were a huge part of the series and essential to the character dynamics.
In general, I’m over studios ruining shows that were very much products of their time and don’t work when being in this new era. They’ve tried reformatted versions, it loses the original charm, they’ve tried keeping the original format, it feels dated. Let things be.

Absolutely.
Doris and Peter as Marie and Frank, were such a huge part of the show, they were fantastic.

While reboots tend to suck, at least if this one were to happen the premise is very simple.
Could it work with ray/deb as grandparents and robert/Amy still around?
Maybe.

Even though the kids were not the most important characters, one of the twins being dead also makes it unlikely.

I’m developing a show called Everybody Loves Everybody Loves Raymond. It’s about a kid growing up in a broken home who dreams he had a family like the one he sees on TV.

So they set it when Ray and his wife are young – BOOM reboot

It wasn’t that great of a show
Seeing a guy so terrified of his wife constantly whining is not funny
Only funny people, were the parents

A spin-off could work with Robert/Amy and/or Ray/Deb taking over as grandparents. But yeah, I don’t know if it would be the same.

Wait, were there actually people wanting this sitcom to come back?
