Well, there’s a surprise! I used to go to car boots and other markets, and the amount of counterfeit tat and stolen tools was quite high.
„Yeah, mate. I woz clearing out my garage and found six used angle grinders and some still packaged Versace handbags my wife didn’t like. Yeah, tenner for the lot“.
That’s where the thieves get rid of it, most large car boots will have quite a few tool tables.
Had my regular landscaper round doing a few bits a month ago and he said the thieves are relentless, he gets an attempt once a week.
Don’t the police check at car boot sales?… This must be THE primary source of stolen goods?
Had my van turned over a few times, thousands lost.
It’s pretty obviously trade kit that’s there, and not a garage clear out.
While ever they don’t get punished it’ll never stop.
Wait a minute minute. You mean that guy I saw isn’t someone who is really into collecting strimmers and lawnmowers but his wife is making him get rid of some because he’s got too many?
They’d find the same at any car boot any sunday, sadly.
Hounslow Heath car boot dedicates half a field to vans filled with used powertools and construction equipment etc. They do also have signs up and notices on their website saying that stolen powertools are not permitted for sale…
