Did his wingman just unloaded missile salvo into him?
      look at 0:16-0:17

Without the watermark from the other posting, I think maybe the trailer shot down his flight leader by accident.? Maybe one of his rockets came off the launcher a bit off line?

It’s interesting how the pilot managed to eject correctly despite the cockpit completely rolling over

I’ve paused, zoomed in and rewatched this so many times. Pilot on left looks to be about 50 meters behind forward plane, fires 6 rockets total, all missing the forward plane. Forward plane takes something from underneath but can see what it was while banking right. Definitely Air Defense, I’m surprised the 2nd plane didn’t deploy any Flares.

In a moment, the plane would lose control. I can’t say for sure that it was the missile that destroyed the plane in the air, but the subsequent crash confirms it. The wing did not come off by itself, there was no explosion before the loss of control.

Two cameras in phenomenal position to video a shoot down of fast moving fighters? I‘m a nobody but sure seems they knew they were a target which means it’s probably a pre-positioned MANpad, yeah?

    9. That pilot is very lucky to have ejected. He lost a wing and was burning up and rolling very fast. Many factors against him for a safe eject. Still no guartentee he is alive tho. When rolling at that speed the wing could have hit him during the eject. Same thing as being hit by a car doing 90 mph.

Who ejected? Looks like the guy in the 2nd plane. Did they both go down?

    11. I thought you could not see an explosion but I was wrong. At 0:18 it is visible.

    12. Seems wing just broke off during hard bank. Airframe malfunction im betting

Looks to me like a structural failure when pulling in to that turn. Maybe pulled too hard and exceeded the design limits.

    14. Ok. So NOT friendly fire. The rockets all missed, but looks like the pilot of the lead SU-25 overstressed his airframe in his bank (possible evasive action). Can’t see a projectile from the ground, if you watch the footage closely, the starboard wing folds just before the explosion, which looks like fuel from the wing tank.

Taking inspiration from a well known Aussie sketch:

‘Can you tell us what happened?’
      ‘Well the wing fell off..’

What do you even say later to your wingman? Sorry man didn’t see you there, glad you’re alright if a few inches shorter, will do better next time.

It is hard for me to tell exactly what caused it. But one less russian weapons platform makes it all good.

    17. I saw him depart normal flight and I already knew he was done before he even started to maneuver away from the threat. Perfect timing in my head. Nice shot.

    18. Almost certainly structural failure. MANPAD teams aren’t likely to be that close to the launch site, and if they are, they’re committing suicide the moment they fire and give away their position.

Even then, you can clearly see fuel spewing out of the wing for a few moments before it bursts into flames. Getting hit by AA would ignite the fuel right away.

For those saying it was friendly fire: the right wing fails (opposite to the side that the 2nd jet was on).
