      If anyone showed up uninvited to a press conference, barged in, interrupted before the announcements were completed, and approached the podium, I would assume they would be removed. A random person barging in without prior warning of their attendance? If I were security personnel tasked with keeping the room secure, and some random guy charged the podium during the conference, he should be glad they didn’t do worse to him. This was a political stunt. I’m glad to see politicians treated like everyone else—they are not lords or kings. They must abide by the rules and are not above the law. If anything, they should be held to a higher standard.

      Credit where credit is due on calling out lies I guess. Though really you should always just point out when there is plain contrary evidence to what the government says, and it shouldn’t be news that one of your anchors decided to.

      Every part of this administration is trying to send one message that dissent will not be tolerated and they will use those with guns to enforce it.

      Everyone is focusing on the arrest of the senator. That’s bad. But its overshadowing that his arrest occurred as she announcing the intention for a federal takeover of a US city.

      The fact Kristi Noem should know every Senator, particularly if she is in their state, and said nothing, says what a narcissist she is.

      Republicans are signaling to the country that they won’t hesitate to make an example out of anyone who dares to protest against the current regime and its excessive abuses of power.

      They’re following the dictator’s handbook to a tee:

      – labeling protestors as „rebels;“
      – flouting the constitution at every turn;
      – Ignoring checks and balances;
      – defying court orders;
      – overstepping congressional authority;
      – relying on the passing of a record number of executive orders to accomplish their goals;
      – violating the rights of Americans who are exercising those rights lawfully;
      – invoking ambiguous sections of federal law to escalate tensions nation-wide and crackdown on all objectors;
      – threatening journalists and judges;
      – controlling the media;
      – defunding independent journalism;
      – targeting universities and law firms;
      – eliminating or defunding arts programs;
      – arresting political dissidents;
      – amassing control over the administrative state;
      – concentrating as much power as possible into the hands of the president and his executive;
      – restricting access to public information;
      – suppressing free speech;
      – throwing North Korea style military parades;
      – punishing insubordination;
      – hosting rallies where participants are vetted to make sure there won’t be any dissenters in the audience;
      – stripping civil servants of their protections and replacing them with loyalists;
      – undermining public trust by eliminating transparency, accountability and all areas of independent oversight;
      – prioritizing loyalty over competence by consistently hiring and appointing allies, donors, corporate lackeys, personal affiliates and members of special interest groups to key positions regardless of their qualifications or „merit.“
      – persistently scapegoating marginalized or vulnerable groups;
      – asserting the primacy of the strong man’s authority and the party’s dogma;
      – peddling a never ending stream of propaganda, lies and double speak;
      – waging endless culture wars in order to distract their voters from the fact that they are picking their pockets;
      – hiding their kleptocratic and authoritarian agenda behind a bunch of faux-populist rhetoric;
      – intertwining government and religion;

      And the list goes on… Literally.

      Republicans are covering all the bases here, checking all the boxes. This is the anatomy of authoritarianism, the shape of dictatorship. We’re watching the steady unraveling of our democratic institutions, conventions, laws and principles. Let’s hope that history is not kind to this moment.

    7. Krusty Noem is obviously a pathological sociopath. Anyone who murders their pet Dog and Goat and then brags about shouldn’t be in charge of ANYTHING!

      Padilla is a really large fucking dude. I’ve worked with him. Good man.

    9. That might be the first time I’ve ever seen a news network other than fox news actually call out a lie as a lie. Not some untruth or „[insert name] said this“…. Could they possibly be learning how to report on this administration?!

    10. What would be nice is if 50% of the coverage of the protests wasn’t showing massive amounts of property damage. Highlight how peaceful it has been so that it’s much more effective when you call this out.

    11. BallBearingBill on

      They are normalizing the lies. The more they tell and get away with, the harder it will be to fight them. So lies will become the normal response until they can intimidate the people calling them out and normalize them all as the liars.

    12. Lando-Going-Commando on

      Sadly, this will happen until Trump manipulates enough uprest to declare martial law.

      MAGA will continue this until midterms, then start massively disrupting voting lines by detaining and intimidating citizens.

      The United States is under attack by the corrupt Trump Regime and Republican Party.

      America you are being controlled by algorithms lead by the fucking Kreml. How fucking slow and dumb are you. Jesus.

      Shameful this occurred. But it does not go unnoticed that there are democrats out there sticking up for peoples rights.

    16. Cities in chaos is stage 1, hot war with Iran is stage 2, which will lead to things you have not imagined yet.

    17. She sounds so tired of all of this… Which is fair. ***I’m*** tired of all of this. New outrages on the daily is exhausting. Which feels like the point. They want us so tired of it that we stop paying attention. That we become apathetic and used to it as a “new normal”.

    18. AntoniaFauci on

      All of the Trump crime family administration thugs are currently regurgitating Noem’s lies.

    19. nopointinlife1234 on

      When will they come for the news anchors I wonder?

      Can’t be too far off now.

    20. I’m so surprised that nobody is talking about what Christi was saying while they we’re attacking the senator:

      “We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and mayor have placed on this country and what they’ve tried to insert in this city,” she said

    21. Powerful-Bug3769 on

      Unbelievable. Everyday I wake up in this country and think today has to be a better day- it can’t get worse….. and then it does.

      Honestly, I think Noem, Bondi and Leavitt all come across like preprogrammed robots when speaking. Their answers sound monotoned, either well rehearsed or hypnotized, no ahs or uhms ever. They always have the perfect “the president wants blah blah” with the same timing even if someone else is speaking, they’ll just keep talking, never stopping to hear the other person’s comment. They have no personality separate from the other two.

    23. robot_pirate on

      There are a lot of inconsistencies.

      – He was escorted around the building. Where was his escort when he was manhandled? Didn’t they know he was a Senator?

      – Everyone entering the room likely had to be vetted or credentialed. People knew who he was.

      – Who is the guy in the orange shirt opening the doors as they remove him and trying to close the doors before others enter the hall? That’s not a typical reaction to an impromptu situation.

      Given Noem’s comments about *“liberating“* the city from the elected officials, it’s reasonable to infer that this might have been pre-planned.
