note that the above link is a statement put out by the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC). Would love to link to a main stream media source covering the incident but more 24 hours after the vandalism, I haven’t seen one. Feel free to post in the comments if you have.

In their statement, MAC includes 3 calls to action:

* Montreal Police to investigate the attack as a serious hate crime;
* The Governments of Quebec and Canada to publicly condemn this act and address the climate enabling it;
* All levels of government take urgent action to protect Muslim and pro-Palestinian communities and to recognize anti-Palestinian racism as a systemic issue.

Not sure if there’s been any movement on #1 yet. If there has, I haven’t seen anything on social media about it. If anyone has any information to the contrary, feel free to post.

For #2, I haven’t yet seen any statements from high ranking gov’t officials condemning the act. Note that within hours of the holocaust memorial vandalism both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs issued lengthy condemnations. As of this writing, neither has addressed this incident. Not sure if any provincial or municipal public figures in Quebec have issued a statement- if so please feel free to post in the comments.

For #3 they never have and they never will.
